Digimon MonstersIt looks like Pokemon TCG Pocket has some company, as a mobile Digimon card game is getting a proper reveal this weekOn March 19, we'll find out more during Digimon Con. Exciting stuff!Image credit: Digimon Card Game News by Connor Makar Staff Writer Published on March 17, 2025 Fantastic news for those with a mobile card game-shaped whole in their heart. A nice little teaser video has been released on social media by the Digimon Card Game company, in which we see a Renamon get sucked into a mobile phone. This, it appears, is a hype video for an upcoming Digimon mobile card game we'll be learning about very soon.In fact, we'll be hearing more about the game during Digimon Con on March 19. For those truly eager to learn more, the announcement will be taking place at 7PM PST / 10PM EST / 2AM GMT / 3AM CEST. You'll be able to watch the reveal live on the official Digimon YouTube account here.To see this content please enable targeting cookies. Digimon Con is an annual fan fest of sorts, in which new reveals for the card game, anime, toys, comics and more are revealed to Digimon lovers around the world. The card game, which obviously is the focus here, has been around for quite some time! The cards were first released in Japan in April 2020, before landing overseas the following year. As for Digimon card game video games, there have been a few! There was a PS1 game that some fans really love, and then there's fan games like Project Drasil which aren't official but have kind of stood out as the sole representation of Digimon card games in the video game form. So basically, there's an empty stage set for a Digimon card game right now.In terms of competitors, this game will surely be head-to-head with a few big hitters. We aren't sure how pure of a Digimon Card Game replication it'll be, but if it does follow standard TCG rules then it'll be smacking up against the likes of Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel. If it's taking a more casual approach, then obviously it'll be nibbling at the massive plate of food Pokemon TCG Pocket has been feasting on.Will you be tuning into Digimon Con this week for news on this new mysterious Digimon mobile card game? Let us know below!

One-in-FiveStill not got the special Pokemon TCG Pocket Snorlax or Manaphy? Good news, part two of the Wonder Pick event gives you a little more timeWonder Picks may be stressful, but thankfully you've got a little more time to get the cards and cosmetics you want.Image credit: The Pokemon Company. News by Connor Makar Staff Writer Published on March 17, 2025 Howdy there Pokemon TCG Pocket fans. As you may know, the Snorlax and Manaphy wonder pick event is still ongoing, but if you're like me and have still yet to grab that elusive special Snorlax variant, or just want some new cosmetics, you're in luck. That's because today, until March 23, part two of the current wonder pick event has started. This means you've got around a week left to get what you want from the picks themselves, as well as a bunch of cool stuff you can blow event currency on.To see this content please enable targeting cookies. These cosmetics include a Manaphy coin, card back, a Manaphy plus Piplup play mat, and a cheeky Volkner profile pic for all you electric lovers out there. As in previous event shops, any additional event currency tokens you have once all the cosmetics are bought can be blown on shinedust. This is actually handy, as shinedust is soon to become the sole currency used in Pokemon TCG Pocket card trading. This all should provide plenty of time for folks to get what they want, granted they boot up the game and do some wonder picks every now and again. For me, I've found decent luck picking the top centre card in wonder picks. I'm having a dry spell right now, sure, but the moment I stop picking that slot I just know the card I want will turn up there. That's just how it works. You've gotta stay true to your gut feeling on this stuff, esspecially if you want to keep your pokedex maxxed out with all the promo cards. The moment I miss one, I think I'm cancelling my sub.Have you been having a good time using Manaphy or Snorlax this set? Let us know below!

  • AI Upscaling On Nintendo Switch 2 Is Basically Real Thanks To Updated Patent
    www.nintendolife.com
Image: Nintendo LifeA newly updated patent published on 13th March 2025 provides further details to Nintendo's proposed AI resolution upscaling solution for the upcoming Switch 2 (thanks, Game Rant).Though the idea of AI upscaling for the new console is not a new one with a previous patent explicitly mentioning Nvidia's DLSS technology this latest filing lends even further support to the notion. The patent goes into detail regarding how AI upscaling can be implemented and even includes some tasty diagrams to explain how it all works.Essentially, it states that an native image of 540p can be upscaled via 'image-up conversion' and therefore output at 1080p via the relevant display. The theory with this is that Nintendo would be able to release games that require less storage than those that would otherwise display natively at a higher resolution. Here's how the patent breaks it down:"Image up-conversion is a technique that allows for conversion of images produced in a first resolution (e.g., 540p resolution or 960540 with 0.5 megapixels) to a higher resolution (e.g., 1080p resolution, 19201080, with 2.1 megapixels). This process can be used to show images of the first resolution on a higher resolution display."Thus, for example, a 540p image can be displayed on a 1080p television and (depending on the nature of the up-conversion process) may be shown with increased graphical fidelity as compared to if the 540p image were displayed directly with traditional (e.g., linear) upscaling on a 540 television."And here's a look at the flow chart detailing how the process works:Time marches on, and we only have just over two weeks until Nintendo lifts the lid on its new console with its Switch 2 Direct Presentation on 2nd April 2025. We're expecting to find out more about the console itself, the launch line-up of games, and of course, the price and launch date. In BriefPosted:3:14 AM PDT March 17, 2025Image Credits:Westend61 (opens in a new window) / Getty ImagesUKs internet watchdog puts storage and file-sharing services on watch over CSAMAs duties under the U.K.s Online Safety Act (OSA) related to tackling illegal content came into force Monday, the internet watchdog, Ofcom, said it has launched a new enforcement program focused on online storage and file-sharing services. The regulator said its evidence shows that file-sharing and file-storage services are particularly susceptible to being used for the sharing of image-based child sexual abuse material (CSAM). The enforcement programmewill assess safety measures they put in place that are aimed at preventing offenders from disseminating CSAM on their services.Ofcom added that it has written to a number of these services, without naming any of those involved. It has put them on notice that formal information requests will soon be sent regarding the measures they have already implemented or plan to implement to tackle CSAM. It will ask them to submit illegal harm risk assessments.Failure to comply with the OSA could lead to major penalties of up to 10% of global annual turnover. Topics

  • Google adds its HD voice model Chirp 3 to its Vertex AI platform
    techcrunch.com
A lot of the focus in generative AI up to now has been on text-based interfaces used to generate text, images and more. The next wave appears to be voice, and its rolling in fast. In the latest development, Google today announced that it would be adding Chirp 3 its HD voice interface to its Vertex AI development platform starting next week.Last week Google quietly announced that Chirp 3 would be rolling out 8 new voices for 31 languages. Use cases for the platform include building voice assistants, creating audiobooks, developing support agents and voice-overs for videos. The news was announced at an event at Googles DeepMind offices in London. Its efforts are coming at the same time that others are also leaping forward with their voice AI work. Last week, Sesame the startup behind the viral, very realistic sounding Maya and Miles AI apps announced the launch of its model for developers to build their on customised apps and services on top of its tech.Notably there will be usage restrictions around Chirp 3 to try to keep a handle on misuse. Were just working through some of these things with our safety team, said Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud, at a news event today.ElevenLabs is among the major startups that have raised hundreds of millions in funding to expand their work in AI voice services. The news will bring Chirp 3 into the same stable as newer versions of its flagship LLM, Gemini, that are being tested, as well as its image-generation model Imagen and its pricey Veo 2 video generation tool. Its arguable whether what Google is releasing with Chirp 3 will be as realistic as some of the other AI efforts to create human voices (Sesames work stands out in particular). But as Demis Hassabis, the CEO of DeepMind, emphasized, this remains a marathon, not a sprint. In the near term this idea that [AI is] a silver bullet to everything in the next couple of years, I dont see that happening just yet. Think were still quite a few away, years away from something like AGI happening, he said. Its going to change things over the next decade, so the medium to longer term. Its one of those one of those interesting moments in time.Google launched Vertex AI way back in 2021 as platform for developers to build machine learning services in the cloud. That was, of course, well before the explosion of interest in AI, and specifically generative AI, that came with the launch of OpenAIs GPT services.Since then, the company has been leaning into Vertex AI in part as it plays catch up to other companies like Microsoft and Amazon building generative AI tooling for developers. In addition to building generative AI on top of Gemini, developers can use Vertex AI to classify data, train models, and set up train models for production. It will be interesting whether it moves to expand its walled garden to models beyond those created by Google itself.Google has been building Chirp voice services for years, going back to using the name as a code name for its early efforts to compete against Amazons Alexa service.
