  • Custom Pixar-Style Curvenet Deformer For Maya
    cgshares.com
Curvenet is a curve-based deformer that serves as an additional rig, working alongside the main rig or geometry cache to create secondary deformations. Inspired by Pixars graphics technology and its character articulation through profile curves, Pavlo Kotliar decided to develop a similar tool for Maya.Maya Curvenet Deformer generates a mesh of curves on the characters surface, along with controllers to manipulate the mesh. Adjusting the meshs shape causes the character to deform. When used as an additional rig, the curve mesh and controllers mirror the deformations of the main rig or geometry cache. This tool is still a work in progress, so follow Pavlo on LinkedIn to stay updated on the latest news and developments.Have a look at this impressively realistic facial rig with adjustable eyes, mouth, and wrinkles, and see more of Pavlos projects on his ArtStation page:Join our80 Level Talent platformand ournew Discord server, follow us on Instagram,Twitter,LinkedIn,Telegram,TikTok, andThreads, where we share breakdowns, the latest news, awesome artworks, and more.Source link The post Custom Pixar-Style Curvenet Deformer For Maya appeared first on CG SHARES.

  • Smooth Animation Made with Houdinis MOPs
    cgshares.com
Houdini is an extremely powerful software, which only gets more handy with time.Have a look at this pleasing wave animation on a grid set up by Igor Yakunin using Houdinis Motion Operators (MOPs).MOPs is anopen-source suite of HDAs built to help motion designers and VFX artists animate more easily and intuitively. It provides controls for duplicating, rotating, bouncing, aiming, and other common motion effects. You can do it quickly without needing to write complex expressions and custom VEX for every little problem.MOPs is built around a few low-level API nodes that make it easy to transform packed primitives along their local axes (or any arbitrary axes!) and to blend the transforms of objects together in an intuitive way. These nodes can also be used by Houdini-savvy technical artists to create new custom tools, SideFX describes the tool. Easily match various resolutions of packed primitives, transform packed Alembics in their local spaces, modify rigid body simulations after the fact, and more!If you like Yakunins work, check out Reddit and Instagram for more. • Marvel Rivals Devs Denied Trolling Data Miners With Fake Characters
    cgshares.com
NetEaseAs NetEases hero shooter Marvel Rivals gains great popularity, the community grows stronger, and so do those who serve the community, like data miners who are keen on providing early information before official channels. There are various findings or theories coming from data mining, and one of them is an allegation that developers add fake heroes to the game to catch those who leak the information on the title. Is this the real case? IGN got the chance to talk with the developers directly, asking producer Weicong Wu and executive producer Danny Koo if they deliberately troll people. Koo answered straightforwardly, No. We would rather spend our time developing the actual game. Then, if those characters are not used to catch leakers or to tease fans, how would the developers explain why they appear in the game? Whats the purpose, and how they ended up there? Weicong explained:You can see that for each characters design, actually we come through a very complicated process, and we make a lot of concepts, trials, prototypes, development, et cetera. So there could be some information left in the code, and it might mean that we have tried those directions and they may appear or may not appear in our future plans. Koo further added, The team experimented with a lot of play styles, heroes. It was like theres someone doing scratch paperwork and then just left a notebook there, and someone [a dataminer] decided to open it with no context. Then what will happen to such characters that are believed to be baits for data miners? Do they stay behind the curtain without having a chance to stand on the stage, or is there a rule that the team follows to decide whether theyll make an appearance in the game? According to the games producer, its highly dependending on what kind of gameplay experience our players would expect in our game. Now, the situation has been made clear, and this is not the first time that the Marvel Rivals team has clarified such speculations. Earlier, they denied an allegation that the game would feature a loot box mechanism. Similarly, the icons and materials related to the loot boxes are leftover content in the game development stage and will not appear in the game.Join our80 Level Talent platformand ournew Discord server, follow us onInstagram,Twitter,LinkedIn,Telegram,TikTok, andThreads, where we share breakdowns, the latest news, awesome artworks, and more.Source link The post Marvel Rivals Devs Denied Trolling Data Miners With Fake Characters appeared first on CG SHARES.

  • Japanese Attorney Says Nintendo Having 22 Out of 23 Patent Claims Rejected is Not a Big Deal
    cgshares.com
As Nintendo continues waging lawfare against Palworld developer Pocketpair, accusing the AA studio of infringing on patents filed only after Palworlds release, a recent development has stolen the headlines regarding 22 out of 23 claims from Nintendos latest recent application being rejected by examiners, handing the gaming giant an apparent loss. In response, Japanese patent attorney Kiyoshi Kurihara has stepped in to defend Nintendo, explaining in a detailed write-up why only one claim surviving in the end is actually not a big deal and isnt as sensational as it might seem for the uninitiated.PocketpairShared on Yahoo Japan, Kuriharas objection clarifies that while the patent application US20240286040A1, which pertains to the concept of players riding characters, did have 22 out of 23 claims dismissed as unpatentable by the US Patent Office, this is unlikely to be a problem for Nintendo, as patent applications typically include multiple claims ranging from broad to narrow. This case is a common pattern in which 22 claims were rejected because they were too broad, leaving only one claim to survive, reads the attorneys report. If the application is amended to focus on the one claim that was not rejected, it will be possible to continue the application or fight the rejected claim further in an appeal. In most cases, Kurihara explains, broader claims are usually found to be unpatentable due to not being novel enough, while narrower ones still have the chance to get approval from the commission even if they are a part of the same application. In this case, the application as a whole can still be granted a patent if the broad claims are removed through amendments, securing the associated rights for Nintendo. For those siding with Pocketpair in this David vs. Goliath-like legal battle and critical of Nintendos usual tactics seen by many as overly harsh and aggressive theres a silver lining, as the lawyers analysis concludes by saying that it is possible that enforcing rights against Palworld has become more difficult because the scope of the claim was narrower than expected, and while this isnt a crushing defeat for Nintendo, its far from a resounding victory the gaming giant probably hoped for.So, what do you think about the Nintendo vs. Pocketpair case? cgshares.com
Principal VFX Artist Jason Key has once again impressed both us and hundreds of CG art enthusiasts with his latest experiment showcasing the capabilities of LiquiGen, a node-based real-time fluid simulation software developed by EmberGen creator JangaFX.This time, the artist demonstrated the path-traced caustics effect that can be achieved with the program, with the final result in Jasons demo appearing impressively lifelike. According to the author, the simulation was set up with the help of a denoiser and rendered at 20 seconds per frame on an RTX 4090 GPU. The creator also noted that this particular sim is not real-time, however, LiquiGen is also able to simulate real-time caustics, as was shown by Jason himself back in 2024:Previously, Jason also combined LiquiGen with EmberGen, as well as Blender, to produce a marvelous 3D simulation of fire clashing with water and producing lots of steam:And just recently, JangaFX evangelist presented a surreal visualization of Earths surface as a cloth piece created with GeoGen, a software for real-time terrain and planet generation.See more of Jasons works here and dont forget to join our80 Level Talent platformand ournew Discord server, follow us onInstagram,Twitter,LinkedIn,Telegram,TikTok, andThreads, where we share breakdowns, the latest news, awesome artworks, and more.Source link The post Experimenting With Path-Traced Caustics in JangaFXs LiquiGen appeared first on CG SHARES.

  • Rumor: Rockstar Is In Talks With Top Roblox, Fortnite & GTA 5 Content Creators
    cgshares.com
While speculations and imaginations surrounding Grand Theft Auto 6 have been circulating, they are all about in-game elements, like how massive and dynamic the world would be, smarter NPCs, creative quest design, or unexpected narrative plots or themes. Now, a new rumor has suggested that the developer might be focusing not only on the game itself but also expanding the games universe using out-of-game powers. This intention has been reported byDigiday, whose three anonymous sources said that Rockstar Games has reached out to some top Roblox and Fortnite creators, as well as dedicated GTA content creators.Their discussions focused on the possibility of creating custom experiences within GTA 6. These experiences would allow creators to modify the games environment and assets to bring their own intellectual property and potentially their brand sponsors into GTAs virtual sandbox. Its said that their conversations have remained open-ended, and there has been no information on how the content creators would benefit from such cooperation beyond being present in arguably one of the most anticipated titles in the gaming community. There is no mention of whether such a plan would be applied to the online mode, although this seems more likely.RockstarIn 2023, Rockstar acquired the Cfx.re team, which is known for its roleplay servers for GTA V (FiveM) and Red Dead Redemption 2 (RedM). The company said it had been excited about the communitys creativity on roleplay servers for several years and wanted to support this direction by providing the authors with even more opportunities. It would be too early to say that GTA 6 will become a metaverse-style platform where user-generated content shines bright, almost as bright as the game itself.
