FabFab, the new platform from Epic Games that replaces the Unreal Engine Marketplace, Sketchfab Store, and Quixel Megascans, has had a somewhat bumpy launch, with several features missing and a number of issues that impacted the overall experience. The team has acknowledged the shortcomings, and the efforts are now focused on resolving these problems in future releases.Epic Games has just shipped another big update to Fab, which includes further search improvements, a revamped UX, and the long-awaited wishlist feature. Historical data from both Unreal Engine and Sketchfab marketplaces has now been integrated into Fab and is used to help determine the quality ranking within search results. In the coming weeks, the team will focus on further integrating current Fab data (such as downloads, sales, etc.) into the search algorithm. The goal is to balance the weight of historical data and current data for each product. This approach aims to ensure that new publishers have as much opportunity for discovery on Fab as legacy marketplace sellers. Now, Fab includes a left-hand navigation panel with various product categories. The filter bar has been repositioned horizontally and now stays at the top of the screen as you scroll through search results. Users can also filter by any tag: simply start typing, and relevant tags will appear in a dropdown. Additional filters are available for publisher, rendering style, and technical features. Plus, your preferences can now be saved, ensuring that your settings remain in effect each time you visit Fab, and the search suggestion pop-up has also been updated.FabFabYou can start building your wishlist today, and more functionality will be added in the future. To access your wishlist, simply click on the bookmark icon at the top right corner of the page. The wishlist supports a maximum of 150 items. Some upcoming features for this feature include a visual alert on the wishlist button to show when items are on sale or temporarily free, as well as email notifications when wishlisted items go on sale.Fab will continue improving UX and usability with plans to address a range of issues. This includes UX fixes across the website, Unreal Engine 5 plug-in, and UEFN integration, achieving consistency in features like the filter bar and navigation tree. The team will also work on improving the 3D viewer performance, plans to create comment sections and forums for each product and find a universal solution for technical details like polycount to enhance filtering options. Additionally, the developers are exploring ways to make Fabs category structure more flexible and user-friendly.See the full list of changes here and join our80 Level Talent platformand ournew Discord server, follow us onInstagram,Twitter,LinkedIn,Telegram,TikTok, andThreads, where we share breakdowns, the latest news, awesome artworks, and more.Source link The post Fab Received Search Improvements, UX Overhaul & Wishlists appeared first on CG SHARES.
