JetBrains Announce Subscription Pricing Changes / News / October 30, 2024 / Applications, ProgrammingJetBrains, the makers of several popular cross platform developer tools and IDEs, hot on the heels of their WebStorm and Rider free for non-commercial use announcement, have just announced upcoming changing to their subscription pricing. Right now if you purchase a JetBrains tool, you can get 2nd and 3rd year loyalty discounts upon subscription renewal:On January 2nd, 2025, this program is going to be going away. It does seem to only apply to organizations and existing subscriptions started before January 2nd, 2025 will still be eligible for the discount scheme. All purchases made after January 2nd will not, which is effectively a 20% then 40% increase in costs.JetBrains have announced details in the following post:We would like to inform you aboutan important update to our discount policy.Starting onJanuary 2, 2025,continuity discountswill no longer apply to new organizational subscriptions. This change affects all JetBrains IDEs, .NET tools, the All Products Pack, the dotUltimate bundle, and JetBrains plugins.This update only impacts new licenses purchased after this date. Your existing licenses and packages will retain their current discount rates.For example, if you currently hold 100 IntelliJ IDEA Ultimate licenses with no active discount, you will still receive the 20% continuity discount on your first renewal of these licenses and 40% on all subsequent renewals. Similarly, if you have already qualified for a 20% or 40% continuity discount, you will still receive a 40% discount on all future renewals thereafter. However, any new license bought after January 2, 2025, will not be eligible for a continuity discount, as we are sunsetting this benefit.You can learn more about the changes to JetBrain products pricing in the video below.
