  • 42 research monkeys still having a ball after escaping Alpha Genesis breeding facility

"The primates are exhibiting calm and playful behavior, which is a positive indication," the department noted. The fun-loving furballs got free after a caretaker "failed to secure doors" at the facility.Alpha Genesis staff have been keeping an eye on the escapees, trying to entice them back in with food. But, instead of taking the bait, the primates have been playing on the perimeter fence while still keeping in touch with the monkeys inside by cooing to them."They're just being goofy monkeys jumping back and forth playing with each other," Alpha Genesis CEO Greg Westergaard told CBS News Thursday. "It's kind of like a playground situation here."Yemassee police note that the monkeys are very young and smallonly about 6 or 7 pounds each. They have not been used for any testing yet, don't carry any disease, and pose no health risk to the public. Still, area residents have been advised to keep their doors and windows locked in case the wee primates try to pay a visit. This isn't the first timeor even the second timeAlpha Genesis has had trouble keeping its monkeys under control. In 2018, the US Department of Agriculture fined the company $12,600 for violations between 2014 and 2016 that included four monkey breakouts. In those incidents, a total of 30 monkeys escaped. One was never found.Beth MoleSenior Health ReporterBeth MoleSenior Health Reporter Beth is Ars Technicas Senior Health Reporter. • Still hoping that Sony will give up on its PSN account requirement for PC games? Think again, as its president says it exists in the name of safety
    www.vg247.com
For Your ProtectionStill hoping that Sony will give up on its PSN account requirement for PC games? Think again, as its president says it exists in the name of safety"We have learned a lot."Image credit: Arrowhead News by Oisin Kuhnke Contributor Published on Nov. 10, 2024 We all know that Sony's PSN requirement on PC is very unpopular, but the company has made it clear it has no intention to scrap it in the future.Earlier this year, Sony faced a bit of a PR crisis when it announced it would be forcing Helldivers 2 players to connect their game to a PSN account, despite the fact it had been out for months at the time. Sony quickly walked back that decision, but later releases, including the Horizon Zero Dawn remaster, have kept the requirement in, despite that particular title being single-player. This constant inclusion of the requirement has led many of Sony's flagship titles to end up with some pretty mixed reviews on Steam, but that hasn't changed the company's plans, as in a recent investors call, Sony president Hiroki Totoki made it clear as to why it has the requirement in the first place. To see this content please enable targeting cookies. "We have learned a lot," Totoki said (thanks, PC Gamer). "The way to face the issues regarding PC, for instance, the PlayStation accounts that we have offeredby offering them, for instance, sometimes that tends to invite pushback. But for the live service games, in order to maintain order of the gaming, so that anybody can enjoy the game safely, we need to create [an] environment conducive to that, [and] of course enjoying the game freely."Having some restrictions - [we] may not call it a rule - but to ask the users and gamers to follow the manner and [that] balance is very important. We have to continue to seek the best way to achieve this." As PC Gamer notes, this was translated live, but it's obvious that what Totoki is saying here is that the PSN requirement is here to stay. This will obviously continue to be frustrating for many players, as there are still plenty who live in countries where you can't even have a PSN account, despite Steam existing there. In terms of everyone else who can get an account but just doesn't want to, well, I'm sure Sony is just waiting for them to stop caring. I'm sure it can afford to.

  • Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Hatris
    www.nintendolife.com
Launching this yearBe sure to cast your votes in the poll below; but first, let's check out the box art designs themselves.North AmericaIf there's one thing that differentiates North America's version of Hatris, it's colour. Or the lack of colour, rather. It's a curious setup, really, as the title itself is kind of tucked away at the top of the composition, while the rest of the image is made up of different hats against a tiled background. Admittedly, it's a strong showcase for the actual gameplay in Hatris, mind you.JapanJapan's approach is a lot more colourful, and we dig it. It's one of those images where, at first glance, it appears as though there are only a couple of hats, but then you see another, and another, and another, until they're everywhere. Very cool stuff.Which region got the best Hatris box art? (134 votes)North America42%Japan58%Thanks for voting! We'll see you next time for another round of Box Art Brawl.Related GamesSee Also

According to Chris Wade, founder of mobile analysis company Corellium, iPhones seem to reboot after their fourth day of in a locked state. Matthew Green, a cryptographer and assistant professor at Johns Hopkins University, described this as a huge improvement in terms of security that probably doesnt inconvenience anyone though the police might disagree.Topics
