How To Create Realistic Scratched Car Paint Shader In Blender

Blender Artist Thomas Marcos, whose work on Asterix & Obelix: The Middle Kingdom we previously shared, has now revealed the process behind creating a realistic micro-scratched car paint surface he developed some time ago.

This simple yet effective technique utilizes a good normal map set to Non-Color, which is then fine-tuned using the Coat section for better control. Thomas has shared the micro-scratches normal map, along with a demo file of the entire setup, so you can download it here and try it out for yourself.
