Unity Developer Unveiled Doc Ock-Inspired Proc-Animated Creature


As Keenan Woodall explained, the game jam theme was “delivery”, so his idea was to play as a Doc Ock-inspired villain tasked with delivering bombs to the homes of superheroes and their families. This character’s body follows the feet, the feet find their next position relative to the body, which creates a feedback loop of sorts, allowing the character to move.

“This is how each foot placement is detected: multiple raycasts are progressively marched further forward and angled further down until it’s pointing back toward the player a bit so the player can step over ledges”, commented the developer.

Creating this character took roughly three days, thanks to Keenan’s prior experience with procedural locomotion and his solid understanding of the process:
