Unfrozen studio, the developer of Heroes of Might & Magic: Olden Era, the official prequel of the classic turn-based strategy games, has announced that the game’s Arena playtest is open for registration.
If you missed our previous article about the game, Olden Era will take place in Enroth, on the continent of Jadame, where rival factions need to unite against the Hive – “a swarm of insectoids corrupted by an Inferno demon lord.” You will see some familiar factions there: Temple (Classic Humans), Necropolis (Undead and Vampires), Sylvan (The Forces of Nature and Fey Folks), Dungeon (Dark Elves and Underground Creatures), Hive (Demonic Insectoids), as well as a mysterious sixth fraction to be revealed later.
The playtest began on March 17 and will last until around March 28, with a focus on the arena mode, where you can “draft a hero, upgrade them, pick your troops, and challenge the enemy right away.”
To join the test, click the “request access” button on the game’s Steam page as soon as possible, as it’ll only be available for a limited amount of players, and refer to this announcement for actions to be taken.
Heroes of Might & Magic: Olden Era will be dropped in Q2 this year, with the accurate release date to be revealed at a later date. Before you leave to sign up for the playtest and wishlist the game, let’s revisit some recently shared footage from developers to learn more about its buildings, monsters, features, workflow to create a hero, and more:
