Cino Lai, a Technical Artist on the Adobe Substance 3D team, has consistently impressed us with his exceptional work, which caught our attention on multiple occasions. He even took the time to speak with us recently about the custom materials and tools used to texture his 3D interpretation of Dragon Ball’s Cell.
With this new project, Cino set out to showcase the potential of the Substance 3D ecosystem in the texture design process for the fashion industry, using 3D Designer, 3D Painter, and 3D Stager to craft a few fully completed digital clothing pieces.

Through this case, Cino showcased the key features of the tools he frequently uses in his texture design pipeline, including the parametric material library, scanned materials, the creation of embroidery patterns, and the techniques he employs for special processes. Additionally, he presented potential market applications and post-design engagements, such as XR experiences.
