We’ve been closely following FUMES, a fast-paced vehicular combat game that captures a nostalgic, arcade-style experience with charming PS1-era dithering graphics and intuitive gameplay, for a while now. In the latest FUMES devlog, the team shared a sneak peek at the current progress and exciting updates, including a new demo and the upcoming early access release.
For example, the new tank track suspensions will offer unique advantages, such as quicker turns and better handling of mud. Mud will also add an extra layer of challenge, as certain surfaces like mud, roads, snow, or steep hills now have individual grip properties that will be handled differently by various suspensions and driving techniques. Combat in FUMES has undergone several changes, including the addition of new combat modes like Seek and Destroy and new weapons, such as mines. Players can now also utilize environmental hazards during fights to obliterate groups of enemies. Major improvements have been made across the board, from combat balance to enemy AI.

The FUMES team’s current goal is to roll out a major demo update, showcasing most of the new features mentioned above, along with some extra content. The next step is to gather feedback from the demo to address any major issues and fix the inevitable bugs that will pop up. Following that, the game will move into early access. At that point, it will become paid, but the demo will remain available for free.
