Watch Zenless Zone Zero’s Anby Being Adorable in This Blender Animation

Take a look at this smooth 3D facial expression test portraying Zenless Zone Zero’s Anby Demara making cute and adorable faces, shared over the weekend by 3D Character Animator Luciana Nightingale, also known as Luci.

Set up in Blender, the sequence was inspired by Mochi’s Reimu Emotes 2.0 animation and created to experiment with the newly-released Anby rig made by 3D Generalist and Character Rigger known as The Crabnuts. Additionally, Luci made use of 新杨XIYAG’s toon shader, included with the rig itself, to apply the facial shadows.

Speaking of the rig itself, The Crabnuts’ Anby setup features:

  • A flexible face rig.
  • The skirt is automated and follows the legs (toggleable).
  • A thorough properties panel.
  • The character’s sword.
  • Easy-to-use finger IKs.
  • Finger macro controller that can be scaled on Y and Z respectively to control the separate digits of the fingers.
  • Works only with Blender 4.x (launching this on any version below 4.3 may cause issues with the materials and transparency bugs. These can be fixed by changing the blend mode of the alpha).
  • Can be used for any non-commercial project, provided the rig’s creator is properly credited.

Here are some of the other artists’ experiments with the rig:
