A New Look At DOOM: The Dark Ages From NVIDIA


During NVIDIA’s CES 2025 event, where the company announced DLSS 4 with multi-frame generation and revealed the latest flagship GPUs, the team also shared a look at games utilizing the new tech. Among other projects, they showcased short gameplay footage of DOOM: The Dark Ages in a video highlighting DLSS 4 technology. The footage reveals several locations and the main character model.

DOOM: The Dark Ages will support multi-frame generation from DLSS 4, ray reconstruction, and path tracing. The shooter will also offer “spectacular battles and stunning graphics” powered by the latest version of the id Tech engine.

id Software praised DLSS 4, which now utilizes transformer-based architecture, which is a more advanced deep neural network model.

“With DLSS 4, we are stepping into a new era of gaming. The new ray reconstruction transformer model powers a historical leap in raytracing capabilities; not just accelerating performance but also enhancing visuals in DOOM: The Dark Ages,” said Billy Khan, Director of Engine Technology at id Software.
