Game developer August Håkansson doesn’t waste his weekends by being idle: there is always work to do for his upcoming project. As a practice and future mechanics, he set up a cool functional modular synthesizer in Unity using his team’s custom interaction system.
The setup works as a synthesizer does: there are several buttons, including vibrato, harmony, and echo, which respond to tweaking with pleasant clicks. A little monitor is a nice addition to the instrument.

Håkansson’s studio Motvind is working on Beyond The Plastic Wall, an “atmospheric narrative puzzler about hope, decay and the things we cannot fix.” According to the artist, the synthesizer will appear in the game once it’s out. Moreover, Håkansson might release the setup or part of its code online in the future.
If you want a glimpse of his other projects, like a GPU-rendered vegetation distribution system, a lighting setup using a standard sprite shader, a camera-switching effect, and a compute shaders grass system, visit Håkansson’s X/Twitter; it’s full of wonders.
