Taira Kakeru, a CG Artist and Animator whose realistic backrooms-inspired scenes you all know and love, enters 2025 with a new exciting and frantic 3D sequence that perfectly combines Kakeru’s passion for trains with unnerving, almost nightmare-like vibes.
Portraying a point-of-view shot of a man sprinting down a train station platform in the middle of the night, the animation exudes an eerie atmosphere that makes you question who – or what – the protagonist is fleeing from, with intense and excessive camera shake amplifying the chaotic tension. True to form, Taira used Blender, the free and open-source 3D software and the artist’s tool of choice, to create the sequence.
Recently, we also featured Taira’s realistic-looking take on the Ginza Station subway entrance in Tokyo, with the names of the lines slightly altered (e.g. Ginda Line instead of Ginza Line), which was featured in “School Revolution!”, a popular Japanese variety show.
