Classic Sonic Reimagined In 3D Looney Tunes-Style Animation

Finally, a classic Sonic with that American cartoon attitude, proving that 3D can still capture his true essence. Javed Sterritt’s animation is based on a 1991 commercial featuring Larry Cedar, where Sonic is humorously compared to the “nice boy” Mario, using Blender and the model provided by DANCADA3D.

You can actually download this model along with the rig for free, compatible with Blender 3.x and above. It has support for both IK and FK, along with squash and stretch, and access to bone layers and custom properties is made easy with a custom-built rig UI panel.

Each custom property is accompanied by a helpful tooltip to explain its function. You can adjust model settings directly within the rig, including Sonic’s blue fur shade, viewport level of detail, super/hyper transformation materials, and more. Additionally, the spin ball mesh comes with full controls.
