Civilization 7, Avowed, Monster Hunter Wilds, Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii – February 2025 is packed with significant game releases, giving their developers another thing to worry about – having to not only promote their own titles to the gaming community but also compete with their brethren for gamers’ attention. One developer who doesn’t seem to be all too concerned about competition is Warhorse Studios’ Daniel Vávra, who recently expressed his excitement regarding Kingdom Come: Deliverance II going up against Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Shadows next February.
As revealed in Vávra’s recent tweet, while the fact that KCD2 and Shadows are launching just a few days apart does make him a little nervous, he’s eager to see how his studio’s “hardcore old-school RPG” will compete with what the developer succinctly described as a “corporate product for modern audiences.”
He further added that, although he is a big fan of the Assassin’s Creed series – having even taught his daughter about ancient Egypt through Origins – Assassin’s Creed Valhalla lost him due to its “nonsensical” depiction of Old Norse religion. Considering all the controversy surrounding Shadows and the fact that the title was postponed until February in the first place, it sure will be interesting to see how the two games compare in terms of sales and audience feedback.
Vávra also reaffirmed that the upcoming sequel will be shipped without Denuvo, a point that Warhorse Studios’ Global PR Manager Tobias Stolz-Zwilling, a.k.a. Sir Tobi, confirmed last week, putting the rumor about the controversial DRM’s presence in the game to rest once and for all and encouraging the community to “bury that thing and never ever talk about it anymore.”
Kingdom Come: Deliverance II is set to be released on February 11, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. You can learn more and pre-order the game over here.
