Marvelous Designer’s GPU Simulation in Action

A well ago, CLO Virtual Fashion released Marvelous Designer 2024.2, introducing several changes, including enhancements to GPU simulations: now, simulations running on the GPU match the collision handling accuracy of those on the CPU, managing multiple layers of clothing effectively.

3D artist kyo (sakuomchan on X/Twitter) demonstrated this improvement in their new video, dragging and poking a 3D shirt.

“The simulation now handles complex clothing that would have previously gone out of control or flown off without any issues,” they said (machine-translated). “It’s also super light!”

The simulation does look smooth and responsive, so it seems like CLO Virtual Fashion did a great job with this release.

You might have noticed that sakuomchan’s example became slower in the middle. The artist says it’s because MD “switched to a high-precision physical property calculation mode that was too heavy to use with the CPU before.”

If you want to see sakuomchan’s other works, follow them on X/Twitter.
