Night Sky Animation Made in 20-Year-Old Flash Software

Animator and Illustrator Resh has shared their animation work behind one of the sequences in the prelude for Reveries Apart, a short movie they discontinued in 2022 after 3 years of development. Sadly, we won’t see it in full, but the creator decided to demonstrate what had been done for the film.

In the video below, you can see a rotating shot with two girls and the night sky, made with “ancient” Macromedia Flash 2004, a software released over 20 years ago.

I am more amazed you still have Flash working,” one X/Twitter user joked, and yes, Resh is sure the app created before the Adobe acquisition has “everything we need.”

Check out Resh’s other animations on X/Twitter and YouTube if you want to get to know their art.
