Play With Light Waves Right In Your Browser


Hans Chiu, who recreated camera lens aberration with Blender 4.2’s Ray Portal BSDF node in the past, has now released a new project: a real-time simulation that runs directly in your browser.

In this interactive demo, Hans has implemented a simplified, WebGL shader-based wave propagation method and added indicators to highlight key Gaussian beam features, such as curvature and beam width. You can adjust the width and focusing power of the input rays by dragging and obscure the light by touching. Additionally, a button allows you to toggle between different visualization modes, enabling you to observe the waves propagating from top to bottom.
