Pocketpair
Pocketpair, the creator of hit open-world survival Palworld, announced the launch of its publishing brand called Pocketpair Publishing, which will release its first title in 2025 in collaboration with SURGENT STUDIOS.
Pocketpair Publishing will provide “funding, development assistance, and publishing for indie game developers and studios.” The company states that the publishing brand will follow a “hands-off approach,” offering the development studios freedom of creativity without imposing strict rules on the development process.
The brand’s first project is scheduled for 2025, and it will be a new horror title from the UK-based game development studio SURGENT STUDIOS. The studio has released several films, for instance, Essex Girls, Measure, Broken Crumbs, and more, and an action-adventure game Tales of Kenzera: Zau, nominated in the Games for Impact category at this year’s The Game Awards.

John Buckley, Head of Pocketpair Publishing, commented on the new project and the brand’s philosophy:
“We are pleased to be able to support SURGENT STUDIOS’ new title as our first step. We deeply sympathize with their original ideas and passion and are honoured to help them realize their vision. We will respect the autonomy and vision of developers and work together to make great games for people all over the world.”
CEO of SURGENT STUDIOS Abubakar Salim revealed some details about the upcoming project and the studio’s plans:
“We noticed a pattern in the entertainment industry, and Pocketpair has given us the opportunity to make a horror game about it. Both Surgent and Pocketpair are well-versed in taking risks. This game will be short and weird, and we think players will be interested in what we have to say.
We’re still in earnest conversation about further projects set in the Tales of Kenzera universe, but this will be a standalone piece: a mile marker between where we’ve come from and where we’re going.”
As for other Pocketpair’s upcoming projects, it recently announced a crossover between Palworld and Terraria, a beloved action-adventure sandbox game set to release in 2025.
