At the end of last month, Larian announced that Baldur’s Gate 3 would receive a huge update, which could be the last major update for the beloved RPG. As promised, the developer has shared a new post about the cross-play stress testing, summoning fans to join the playtest scheduled in January.

The Community Update #31 blog has explained the main reason and goal for the testing: “A stress test aims to do exactly what it sounds like; rigorously test the latest game version to detect any instability or gameplay issues before Patch 8 releases. With your help, we’ll be able to keep an eye on any funny business.”

The cross-play will allow players to enjoy the game with friends simultaneously without worrying about not being on the same platform. No matter which platforms you are on, such as Windows, Mac, PlayStation, or others that run the game, just invite your friends to join your cross-play lobby directly.

Other than this much-awaited feature, the new update will also bring 12 subclasses and a photo mode, which we have detailed in this previous article.
