Players complain that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and Silent Hill 2 Remake run at a worse quality on a new PlayStation 5 Pro.
Posts on the Silent Hill subreddit page state that there was apparently no patch for PS5 Pro, and the game looks “horrible” on it. Players say that fog and reflections flicker. One of the posts states that the game looks worse than on standard PS5, and Quality mode runs at 30 fps. The Performance mode shows 60 fps, but the reflections are still broken.
PlayStation 5 Pro was claimed to provide better visuals and quality. Recently, Sony revealed a list of games that run on the new console. Interestingly, Silent Hill 2 Remake is not included in the list, which might explain the glitches that appear in the game’s visuals.
Another game that seems to have issues with PS5 Pro performance is Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. Digital Foundry has shared that there are image quality issues. PlayStation. 5 Pro’s Performance mode has shimmering glitches, which are not present in the same mode of PS5.
Digital Foundry’s Oliver Mackenzie supposed that the issues refer to the PSSR upscaling algorithm: it takes the game’s image and fills in the missing details with machine learning. If the original image has a complex pattern, like foliage, the lighting in the image can “pulse in and out in a distracting manner,” which leads to the shimmering effect.
