This plug-in, created by a Reddit user known as 200Kolya, was inspired by Source 2’s tile meshes. ModularBuilder makes creating pipes in seconds incredibly easy and satisfying, to the point where it could easily be turned into a puzzle indie game rather than just being used for level design.
The developer shared that it’s great for creating structures like catwalks, railings, and similar elements. As seen in the video, each node has an array of vectors (connections), and the red dot represents the direction in which a new connection is added to the array. Each node’s meshes have predefined vector arrays to help find the best match and rotation.
200Kolya plans to release ModularBuilder soon, currently fixing some bugs and checking for version compatibility.
