The United States is expected to generate the largest revenue share for mobile games – approximately $141 billion – driven by rising smartphone adoption, technological advancements, and greater global connectivity. Mobile gaming, in particular, is forecast to grow at an 11.3% CAGR, with 9.9% growth anticipated in 2025 alone.

  • Shifting Player Engagement: The report notes that Gen Z and Gen Alpha are at the forefront of changing engagement patterns, favoring interactive, socially connected, and user-generated content. Platforms like Twitch and YouTube are enhancing community interactions, reinforcing gaming’s role as both entertainment and a cultural phenomenon.

  • Technological Advancements: Innovations in artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud gaming are highlighted as major drivers of change. Cloud gaming is expected to generate $25.3 billion by 2029 by enabling high-performance streaming across devices, while AI is streamlining game development and personalizing player experiences to improve engagement and retention. Major industry players, including Activision Blizzard, NVIDIA, and Microsoft, are investing in these technologies as they explore new monetization models.

Chris Hewish, Chief Strategy Officer at Xsolla, said, “The convergence of AI and cloud gaming is revolutionizing the industry, making high-quality gaming experiences more immersive, scalable, and accessible. AI is streamlining development and enhancing player engagement, while cloud gaming is removing hardware barriers and offering alternative payment models such as pay-as-you-go.”

The report also explores how increasingly accessible development tools let a new generation of creators engage in social-impact gaming. These tools allow young developers to leverage gaming as a means to address community challenges and drive meaningful social engagement.
