Connections: Sports Edition is a new version of the popular New York Times word game that seeks to test the knowledge of sports fans. Like the original Connections, the game is all about finding the "common threads between words." And just like Wordle, Connections resets after midnight and each new set of words gets trickier and trickier—so we've served up some hints and tips to get you over the hurdle. If you just want to be told today's puzzle, you can jump to the end of this article for the latest Connections solution. But if you'd rather solve it yourself, keep reading for some clues, tips, and strategies to assist you. What is Connections Sports Edition? The NYT's latest daily word game has launched in association with The Athletic, the New York Times property that provides the publication's sports coverage. Connections can be played on both web browsers and mobile devices and require players to group four words that share something in common. Each puzzle features 16 words and each grouping of words is split into four categories. These sets could comprise of anything from book titles, software, country names, etc. Even though multiple words will seem like they fit together, there's only one correct answer. If a player gets all four words in a set correct, those words are removed from the board. Guess wrong and it counts as a mistake—players get up to four mistakes until the game ends.Players can also rearrange and shuffle the board to make spotting connections easier. Additionally, each group is color-coded with yellow being the easiest, followed by green, blue, and purple. Like Wordle, you can share the results with your friends on social media.

  • The PS5 Pro is $50 off in Sony’s Days of Play sale

The Sony Days of Play sale is underway, and it includes the first official price cut for the PS5 Pro. The console has dropped by to in the US for the sale, which runs from May 28 to June 11.
This is the first time Sony has discounted its Pro-level console. Retail partners like Amazon are matching the discount as well. If you don't have a PS5 already and can afford the Pro model, it's definitely the way to go to get the best PlayStation experience. It earned a score of 88 in our review, and it might have scored even higher if not for the price and the lack of a built-in disc drive.

There are other discounts on consoles in the US and Canada as part of the sale. A bundle of either the standard PS5 or Digital Edition with a copy of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 starts at /CAD. Sony says that will save you /CAD compared with buying them separately. The PS5 standard and digital versions will be on sale in Europe and Asia too, starting at €400/£340/¥65,980.
It’s worth noting that Sony has considered raising the prices of PS5 hardware to offset the cost of tariffs. Microsoft this month jacked up the prices of Xbox consoles recently for that reason. So if you’ve been on the fence about getting a PS5 or PS5 Pro, now might be the time to snap one up.
Elsewhere in the Days of Play sale, accessories are getting discounts. You can save on the PlayStation VR2, PlayStation VR2 and Horizon Call of the Mountain bundle, Pulse Explore earbuds, DualSense Edge controller, PlayStation Access controllerand the DualSense controller. Things like PS5 console covers and external storage drives will get price cuts as well.
You will, of course, be able to snap up PS5 games for fewer dollars than usual. MLB The Show 25, the brilliant Astro Bot and Lego Horizon Adventures are among the many first-party games getting discounts. If you haven't played The Last of Us Part II and don't want to wait a year or two before finding out where the story of HBO's adaptation will go after thatseason finale on Sunday, you might like to snap up the remastered edition of the misery simulator, which will be included in the sale.
Hundreds of other games will be featured. The list includes several Assassin's Creed titles, Grand Theft Auto V, Final Fantasy VII Remake and Rebirth, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Balatro. On top of that, movies will be on sale through Sony Pictures Core
Elsewhere, some PlayStation Plus plans are 33 percent off for new subscribers. Upgrading to the Extra or Premium tiers may cost you a third less than usual as well. That stinks for long-term PS Plus members who’d like to add another year or two, but that’s standard practice for plans such as these as companies try to boost subscriber numbers.
Speaking of which, Sony is adding an extra few games to the PS Plus Game Catalog for Extra, Premium and Deluxe members. They are:

Another Crab’s TreasureSkull and BonesDestiny 2: Legacy CollectionGrand Theft Auto IIIAnother Crab's Treasure is a delightful Soulslike that was one of my favorite games of 2024. One of the best things about it is an accessibility option that gives you a giant pistol that can one-shot any enemy. Skull and Bones landed last year after years of delays and I'd say that "at no extra cost" is the best way to try it. Destiny 2: Legacy Collection includes hundreds of hours of gameplay with all of the expansions from the game's Light and Darkness Saga, except for the last chapter, The Final Shape.
As it happens, the latest batch of monthly PS Plus gamesincludes Destiny 2: The Final Shape, which will be available on May 30 for PS4 and PS5. The other titles, which you can claim starting on June 3, are NBA 2K25, last year's remake of Alone in the Darkand the Jet Set Radio-esque Bomb Rush Cyberfunk. That's a solid lineup!
In addition, two bona fide all-timers are joining the Classics Catalog on June 5 for PS Plus Premium/Deluxe subscribers. Myst and its sequel Riven will be available to members on PS4 and PS5 at no extra cost. Premium/Deluxe subscribers will have access to two more game trials from May 28: Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2and Sid Meier’s Civilization VII.
Update, May 28, 12:53PM ET: Sony pushed back the date that it's adding Destiny 2: The Final Shape to the PS Plus Monthly games list from May 28 to May 30. This story has been updated accordingly. This article originally appeared on Engadget at

  • Use This Free App to Track Sports Scores in Your Mac’s Menu Bar

It's a sad fact of life: Sometimes you have to work when you'd rather be watching the game. I can't fix that problem for you, sadly, but I can give you a way to keep track of the score on your Mac.Apple offers a great sports scores app for the iPhone, which is the best way to keep track of the score while you're doing something else. There's nothing like that from Apple for the Mac, though, which I find a little disappointing. Sure, you can ask Siri for the score, but there's no way to passively keep track of the score while you're working on something else. Happily, there's a free app that puts the score for many major leagues right in your menu bar: the aptly named MenuScores. This is a free and open source application that offers scores for major sports leagues in both Europe and North America. Just install the application and you'll see "Select a Game" in the menu bar. Click this and you'll see a list of leagues—hover over any of them to see a list of games. Click a game and you'll know the score every time you glance at the menu bar. You can optionally get a notification when the game starts and ends.

    Credit: Justin Pot

The supported leagues include the NHL, NBA, NCAA men's and women's basketball, the NFL, MLB, F1, PGA, LPGA, EUFA Champions league, EPL, ESP, GER, ITA, and NLL. Most sports fans aren't going to want to see all of theses, so you can disable any league in the settings. You can also disable notifications and configure how often scores should refresh—options range from every five seconds to every five minutes. Scores are pulled in using ESPN's API.The application isn't perfect. It would be nice if I could get more details about games by clicking them, even if that meant opening a website. I also wish there was support for MLS games. Even so, this is a great tool if you're a fan of even one supported league. I know I'll be opening ii late in the afternoon most days during hockey season.

Credit: Justin Pot The supported leagues include the NHL, NBA, NCAA men's and women's basketball, the NFL, MLB, F1, PGA, LPGA, EUFA Champions league, EPL, ESP, GER, ITA, and NLL.

  • If You Have an Asus Router, You Need to Check If It's Been Hacked

Asus' routers and popular and well-reviewed. As such, there's a good chance you have one of its devices powering your home wifi. If you do, you should probably check on it, since thousands of Asus' routers are now compromised. What happened?Cybersecurity company GreyNoise published a blog post about this router attack on Wednesday. GreyNoise says attackers used brute-force login attemptsand authentication bypassesto break into these routers. Notably, hackers used authentication bypass techniques that aren't assigned CVEs. CVEs are labels used to track publicly disclosed security vulnerabilities, which means the security vulnerabilities were either unknown or known only to a limited circle.Once in, hackers exploited the Asus router's CVE-2023-39780 vulnerability to run whatever commands they wanted. Hackers enabled SSHaccess through Asus' settings, which let them connect to and control the devices. They then stored the configuration—or backdoor—in NVRAM, rather than the disk of the router. The hackers did not leave malware behind, and even disabled logging, which makes their attacks difficult to detect. It's not clear who is behind these attacks, but GreyNoise did say the following: "The tactics used in this campaign—stealthy initial access, use of built-in system features for persistence, and careful avoidance of detection—are consistent with those seen in advanced, long-term operations, including activity associated with advanced persistent threatactors and operational relay boxnetworks. While GreyNoise has made no attribution, the level of tradecraft suggests a well-resourced and highly capable adversary."How did GreyNoise find out?Sift, GreyNoise’s AI technology, first detected an issue on March 17, noticing unusual traffic. GreyNoise uses fully emulated Asus profiles running factory firmware to test for issues like these, which let researchers observe the attackers' full behavior, reproduce the attack, and discover how the backdoor was installed. Researchers at the company received Sift’s report the following day, and began researching, coordinating with “government and industry partners.” GreyNoise reported that, as of May 27, nearly 9,000 routers were confirmed compromised. The company is pulling that data from Censys, which keeps tabs on internet-facing devices throughout the world. To make matters worse, the affected devices only continue to increase: As of this piece, there were 9,022 impacted routers listed on Censys' site. Luckily, GreyNoise reports that Asus patched the security vulnerability in a recent firmware update. However, if the router was compromised before the patch was installed, the backdoor hackers put into the router will not be removed. Even if this is the case, you can take action to protect your router. If you have an Asus router, do thisFirst, confirm your router is actually made by Asus. If it is, log in to your router via your internet browser. Logging into your router varies by device, but according to Asus, you can head to www.asusrouter.com, or enter your router's IP address into your address bar, then log in with your Asus router username and password. Asus says if this is the first time you've logged into the router, you'll need to set up your account. From here, identify the "Enable SSD" settings option. You'll know the router is compromised if you see that someone can log in via SSH over port 53828 with the following key: ssh-rsa AAAAB3NzaC1yc2EAAAABIwAAAQEAo41nBoVFfj4HlVMGV+YPsxMDrMlbdDZ.Now, disable the SSH entry and block these IP addresses: 101.99.91.151101.99.94.17379.141.163.179111.90.146.237From here, factory reset your router. Unfortunately, the patch alone won't be enough, since the attack survives any update. A total reset is the only way to be sure your router is protected. However, if you see your router was not affected here, install the latest firmware update ASAP. Unaffected routers that install the latest patch will be protected from this type of attack going forward.

  • What's New on Max in June 2025

Max still goes by Max for now, but the return to the original HBO Max branding is expected sometime this summer. In the meantime, the third season of HBO Original series The Gilded Age is set to drop in weekly installments starting June 22. The period drama, set in 1880s New York, stars Carrie Coon, Christine Baranski, and Cynthia Nixon, among others.

On the movie slate, there's A24's Parthenope, a Paolo Sorrentino coming-of-age film set in Naples and starring Celeste Dalla Porta and Gary Oldman, and Cleaner, about radical activists in present-day London who take hostages at an energy company's annual gala in an attempt to expose corruption. Max is also getting The Day The Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movieand the much-hyped A Minecraft Movie, a fantasy comedy film based on the video game and starring Jason Momoa, Jack Black, Danielle Brooks, Emma Myers, and Jennifer Coolidge. The movie debuted in theaters this spring and is listed as "coming soon" to Max. HBO Original documentaries coming in June include The Mortician, which will debut June 1—the three-episode run will dive deep into the family behind California's Lamb Funeral Home and its morally questionable practices. Zackary Drucker's Enigmaexplores transgender legacy and identity through the stories of April Ashley and Amanda Lear, among others, while My Mom Jaynefollows actress Mariska Hargitay in her journey to learn more about her mom, who died when Hargitay was three. Max subscribers will also get a variety of live sports, including NHL playoff games as well as a handful of MLB and U.S. soccer matchups. Here's everything else coming to Max in June. What's New on Max in June 2025
On the movie slate, there's A24's Parthenope (June 6), a Paolo Sorrentino coming-of-age film set in Naples and starring Celeste Dalla Porta and Gary Oldman, and Cleaner (June 13), about radical activists in present-day London who take hostages at an energy company's annual gala in an attempt to expose corruption. Max is also getting The Day The Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie (June 27) and the much-hyped A Minecraft Movie, a fantasy comedy film based on the video game and starring Jason Momoa, Jack Black, Danielle Brooks, Emma Myers, and Jennifer Coolidge. The movie debuted in theaters this spring and is listed as "coming soon" to Max. HBO Original documentaries coming in June include The Mortician, which will debut June 1—the three-episode run will dive deep into the family behind California's Lamb Funeral Home and its morally questionable practices. Zackary Drucker's Enigma (June 24) explores transgender legacy and identity through the stories of April Ashley and Amanda Lear, among others, while My Mom Jayne (June 27) follows actress Mariska Hargitay in her journey to learn more about her mom, who died when Hargitay was three. Max subscribers will also get a variety of live sports, including NHL playoff games as well as a handful of MLB and U.S. soccer matchups. Here's everything else coming to Max in June. • Disney is suing YouTube for poaching a key media and sports executive

As YouTube prepares to air an exclusive NFL opening week game for free on September 5th, it’s hiring former Disney exec Justin Connolly. The move has caused Disney to respond by suing both YouTube and Connolly, saying he was in the middle of leading the team negotiating Disney’s license renewal with YouTube.

He’d most recently been running the streaming services and linear media networks at Disney, and will take over as YouTube’s new global head of media and sports, as first reported by Bloomberg. After spending more than 20 years at Disney and ESPN, he’ll be managing YouTube’s relationship with the media companies that distribute content on YouTube TV, as well as leading its live sports coverage.

Bloomberg also first reported the lawsuit filed yesterday in California Superior Court, as Disney alleges that YouTube induced Connolly to breach a three-year employment contract that started in January and would’ve kept him there as an executive until an early termination option for March 1st, 2027. Connolly left Disney last week, just months before the launch of its standalone ESPN streaming service this fall.

In its complaint, Disney’s lawyers write:

Critically, Connolly leads the Disney team negotiating a license renewal with YouTube. Connolly has intimate knowledge of Disney’s other distribution deals, the financial details concerning Disney’s content being licensed to YouTube, and Disney’s negotiation strategies, both in general and in particular with respect to YouTube. It would be extremely prejudicial to Disney for Connolly to breach the contract which he negotiated just a few months ago and switch teams when Disney is working on a new licensing deal with the company that is trying to poach him.

YouTube did not comment on the lawsuit.

YouTube has become a growing force in live sports, with its live TV streaming service amassing more than 8 million subscribers and adding the NFL Sunday Ticket package in 2023. The platform will also. Earlier this year, YouTube revealed that it has become more popular on TVs than phones.

Other streaming companies have also increased their focus on sports recently, with Amazon preparing to broadcast NBA games and Inside the NBA next season, Apple’s close relationship with MLB and MLS, as well as Netflix’s broadcasts with the NFL and other events.

Update, May 22nd: Added details of Disney’s lawsuit.

Does Kepler not report information? This should have captured the first ~10 days of Clair Obscur Expedition 33, but it doesn't show up anywhere on these lists, including engagement, which theoretically would have covered if people just gamepass'd the game...

Glad to see The Hundred Lines in the Switch charts at least.

Switch outsold Xbox ? Seems kinda wild with Switch 2 releasing soon and a kinda stacked release schedule for Xbox and GP.

    Edit.

Clarified a couple posts below. Xbox is 2nd and Switch 3rd for this month.

No they do not. They are an indie publisher, most of them don't.

Pretty sure they don't. Kind of a BG3 situation where an obvious major player is completely missing from Circana's data

What remains shocking to me is Xbox can sell better, and still come in 3rd.

It makes sense there would be an increase on xbox consoles, everyone getting in before they increase the price. Maybe it explains why ps5 only dropped 5% as well, as the expectation is that they will also have a price increase.

You do realise April's a quiet month right like you're not going to have constant high sales after it's peak right like you do realize this it will come down I don't want to be mean but it seems as you just go into these form posts and go this is bad and then just leave yet very 5% down from last year is actually very good for PlayStation considering they'd at at 2023 also at least Xbox is up in the Home Country through that could also be because people are getting Xbox is before the price increase

Both things can be true, and you would assume people would try to be purchasing hardware before Tariffs. April is historically bad, but dollars sales is alarming because a 700$ Pro exists. April 2023 was bad and this is worse. The whole year is down and likely to go down further on the big boy consoles with price increases. Switch 2 is needed just to stabilize the market and GTA being a year away is going to be a long wait.

So you're thinking everyone's getting their Xbox before are the price increase hits honestly I'm shocked that PlayStation 5 it's only - 5% down from last year that is insane   Gavalanche Prophet of Regret Member Oct 21, 2021 25,917 It makes sense there would be an increase on xbox consoles, everyone getting in before they increase the price. Maybe it explains why ps5 only dropped 5% as well, as the expectation is that they will also have a price increase.   Killer Member Oct 27, 2017 2,976 Microsoft PlayStation   g-m1n1 Member Oct 27, 2017 2,870 Luxembourg PS5 is Xbox Game Studios main platform. You do realise April's a quiet month right like you're not going to have constant high sales after it's peak right like you do realize this it will come down I don't want to be mean but it seems as you just go into these form posts and go this is bad and then just leave yet very 5% down from last year is actually very good for PlayStation considering they'd at at 2023 also at least Xbox is up in the Home Country through that could also be because people are getting Xbox is before the price increase   YupiScroopy Member Jun 28, 2023 149 LETS GO HUNDRED LINE!!  Mr Evil 37 Member Mar 7, 2022 27,772 g-m1n1 said: PS5 is Xbox Game Studios main platform. Of course talking about direct sales only (XGP don't show up on Circana numbers, except "player engagement"). If someone said this 3 years ago, he would be mocked by the whole forum.  Fabs Member Aug 22, 2019 2,753 Tasman1991 said: You do realise April's a quiet month right like you're not going to have constant high sales after it's peak right like you do realize this it will come down I don't want to be mean but it seems as you just go into these form posts and go this is bad and then just leave yet very 5% down from last year is actually very good for PlayStation considering they'd at at 2023 also at least Xbox is up in the Home Country through that could also be because people are getting Xbox is before the price increase Click to expand... Click to shrink... Shopolic Avenger Oct 27, 2017 8,093 Forza Horizon 5! :O Imagine FH6 sales number when it'll be available day one on PS5!  ProdigyZA Member Jun 9, 2024 1,510 g-m1n1 said: PS5 is Xbox Game Studios main platform.
