NVIDIA's RTX 5060 GPUs have been causing blank/black screens, as has been reported by numerous users, for which NVIDIA has released a new firmware. Numerous RTX 5060/5060 Ti Black Screens Reports are Piling up; NVIDIA Releases UEFI Firmware Update, Which Works "Only" if Blank Screen Occurs on Reboot No RTX 50 series GPU has been spared from the black screen issue, and the RTX 5060 series is the latest victim. Reports of bricked RTX 5060 Ti are very common these days, and while the RTX 5060 is relatively new, the GPU will likely suffer the same fate. We have been seeing many reports emerging on social media and NVIDIA's forums about the issue, and it seems to be pretty complex. Some users have been unable to operate their systems normally since their systems crash or freeze on a black screen unexpectedly. Unlike what you would think is a result of intensive workloads, the black screen can occur at any point, regardless of what and how intensive the process is. In some cases, users aren't even able to reach the BIOS screen, which is bizarre. One of the very recent responses from one of NVIDIA's employees involved troubleshooting with multiple steps, but at the end of the day, if the problem doesn't get fixed, you will have to send the crash dump file to NVIDIA. Yesterday, NVIDIA released a new firmware in hopes of fixing the blank/black screen issue RTX 5060 series owners are facing. This is the GPU UEFI Firmware Update Tool v2.0, which aims to update the GPU firmware for users who are facing issues when they reboot their systems. NVIDIA says that this update should "only" be applied if the black screen occurs after the reboot, which essentially means that it is not a permanent fix for all users. Many have been unsuccessful in getting the boot, even the first time after installing the RTX 5060 Ti. Some have reported that the GPU doesn't work with the driver installed, and others have reported that they were successful in booting to the OS only in safe mode. In the release notes, NVIDIA also recommended a few steps in order to troubleshoot the problem as follows: Completely power down your system before booting Ensure you are using the latest SBIOS from your motherboard vendor Ensure you are in UEFI boot mode and not Legacy/CSM Boot using an alternate graphics source (secondary card or integrated graphics) After powering on your system, wait for your operating system to load with the graphics driver installed It asks users not to use the Legacy/CSM boot mode, but if their motherboards don't support the UEFI boot mode, they will have to contact the customer service of their GPU manufacturer for a Legacy VBIOS update. OpenAI is updating the AI model powering Operator, its AI agent that can autonomously browse the web and use certain software within a cloud-hosted virtual machine to fulfill users’ requests. Soon, Operator will use a model based on o3, one of the latest in OpenAI’s o series of “reasoning” models. Previously, Operator relied on a custom version of GPT-4o. By many benchmarks, o3 is a far more advanced model, particularly on tasks involving math and reasoning. “We are replacing the existing GPT‑4o-based model for Operator with a version based on OpenAI o3,” OpenAI wrote in a blog post. “The API version [of Operator] will remain based on 4o.” Operator is one among many agentic tools released by AI companies in recent months. Companies are racing to make highly sophisticated agents that can reliably carry out chores more or less without supervision. Google offers a “computer use” agent through its Gemini API that can similarly browse the web and take actions on behalf of users, as well as a more consumer-focused offering called Mariner. Anthropic’s models are also able to perform computer tasks, including opening files and navigating web pages. As expected with a Community Day event, Machop will spawn in huge numbers with a high chance for it to appear shiny in Pokémon Go. There are also several other bonuses and perks, which we’ve listed out below. How do I catch a shiny Machop in Pokémon Go? As per old research by the now-defunct website The Silph Road (via Wayback Machine), Shiny rates on Community Days are about 1 in 24, which means that if you keep playing throughout the three-hour window, you should find quite a few shiny Pokémon. If you’re short on time or Poké Balls, you can pop an Incense, then quickly tap each Machop to check for shiny ones, running from any that aren’t shiny. Notably, any Machop you’ve already tapped will face where your player is standing, so that should help identify which ones you may have already checked. This is a great time to practice your quick catch, too, to max out your Machop Candy gains. What Community Day move does Machop’s evolution learn? If you evolve Machoke into Machamp from May 25 at 2 p.m. until May 31 at 10 p.m. in your local time, it will learn the charged move Payback. If you miss out on evolving it during this period, you will likely be able to evolve it during a Community Day weekend event in December to get Payback. If you don’t want to wait, you can use an Elite TM to get the move. How does Machamp do in the meta? Whew, okay! Let’s talk about it. In short, Machamp is a powerhouse when it comes to PvE content. While yes, it does get outclassed by Legendaries, shadows, and Megas, it remains a really solid pick, ranking only below Lucario and Conkeldurr when you factor out those aforementioned categories. I personally love using my powered-up Machamp to help me take out the Team Rocket leaders and Giovanni. While veteran players might shrug at the thought of a Machamp (who needs that when you can just run a Mega Lucario or powered-up Terrakion?), this event is a great one for newer players who might not have that stuff yet. This is all compounded with the fact that Machamp is getting its Gigantamax debut on May 25, literally the day after this Community Day event. That said, Gigantamax Machamp is the definitive fighting-type pick in Max Battles. So if you may want to hold off on powering up any of the Machamp you get on the Community Day and instead opt to power up the Gigantamax Machamp you can get the next day (if you’re into Max Battles). That Gigantamax Machamp will be able to be used as a regular attacker in the various types of game content, so we recommend just powering up a Gigantamax one if you only have enough candy for one. (That being said, you should get out there and try to grab as much Machop Candy as you can during this event.) Machamp’s best PvE moveset is Counter and Dynamic Punch, so you don’t have to worry about evolving it during the Community Day period or anything like that. Specifically, you’ll likely want your Gigantamax Machamp to use Low Kick instead of Counter, since it’s a shorter attack and thus grants more max energy. For PvP, shadow Machamp actually isn’t a horrible choice, but you’ll want to set it up with Karate Chop, Cross Chop, and Stone Edge (according to PvPoke). How do I make the most of Machoke Community Day? The following bonuses will be active during Machoke Community Day: Tripled Stardust for catching Pokémon Incense lasts three hours Lure Modules lasts three hours Machop special photobombs when taking snapshots That said, you should definitely pop a Star Piece and an Incense and try to nab some powerful Machop. If you can Mega Evolve Heracross, Blaziken, Medicham, Lopunny, Lucario, or Gallade, you’ll score additional Machop Candy per catch. As a reminder, you can trade your Machop or Machoke before evolving it to completely negate the candy cost to turn it into a Machamp. (Usually it’ll cost 100 Machop Candy, but if you trade it ahead of time, it’ll cost none! Yay!) There will also be “Community Day Continued” Timed Research until May 31 that will reward more Machop, including ones with special themed backgrounds. This research will keep the increased shiny rate for Machop, even after the three-hour event is over, so make sure you complete them for extra chances to get a shiny.

The world's largest manufacturer of graphics processing units (GPUs) is facing allegations of review manipulation — and the claims being made are pretty egregious.According to the GamersNexus blog and others within the PC gaming review industry, Nvidia has allegedly been trading access to its new GeForce RTX 5060 GPU for friendly reviews. Those who haven't promised such positive coverage for the $300 gaming gadget, meanwhile, claim they've been left in the dust."NVIDIA has offered certain unqualified media outlets access to drivers which actual qualified reviewers do not have access to, but allegedly only under the premise of publishing 'preview' of the RTX 5060 in advance of its launch," GamersNexus claimed in a recent vlog. "Some outlets were given access to drivers specifically to publish what we believe are puff pieces and marketing while reviewers were blocked."Another site, Videocardz.com, went on to report that the German website GamerStar Tech disclosed such an arrangement with Nvidia, detailing that the chip company allowed them to publish a preview of the 5060 but still "dictated" all the settings the reviewer used.We reached out to Nvidia to ask about these allegations, but a representative declined to comment.To add insult to injury, Nvidia chose to launch the new graphics card — which, as Boing Boing notes, has less RAM than previous generations — in the middle of Taipei's Computex conference last weekend, which many would-be reviewers attended."Even if reviewers already had a GPU in hand before then, Nvidia cut off most reviewers’ ability to test the RTX 5060 before May 19th by refusing to provide drivers until the card went on sale," The Verge's Sean Hollister wrote of the debacle. Over 20 eyewear companies will be demoing headsets, glasses, and AI assistants. Snap’s next-generation Spectacles will be out in force, worn by hundreds of developers. Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses, which sold over 500,000 units in Q1 alone, signal a tipping point for mainstream wearable adoption.
