  • Intergalactic Takes Inspiration From Elden Rings Player Freedom Rumor
    gamingbolt.com
Despite the lack of gameplay, Naughty Dogs Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet has caused quite the stir since its announcement at The Game Awards 2024. It boasts several inspirations, notably futuristic anime like Cowboy Bebop and Akira. And while its still changing and evolving during development, per director Neil Druckmann, another action title has seemingly inspired its sense of player freedom.Ben Hanson of MinMaxx noted that, At some point on the podcast a while ago, before the reveal trailer happened, I teased that idea of, like, Ive heard Naughty Dogs next game is very inspired by a game with a lot of player freedom.'As it turns out, he was referencing FromSoftwares Elden Ring. I think its fine to say it now. Elden Ring is what it was compared to back then. But if I would have said, Naughty Dogs next game is like Elden Ring, and then that reveal trailer comes out, we would have been lit on fire.True enough, not many would see Intergalactics first trailer and immediately think of adventuring through a world similar to The Lands Between. However, it does unfold on a single planet, Sempiria, and Hanson noted that players would be uncovering the history of this world. You can kinda see a little bit where they might be going with that.Of course, the gameplay loop has yet to be showcased. All we have from the reveal trailer is protagonist Jordan A. Mun wielding a laser sword against a larger enemy. A release date is also unknown, and so it may be a while before concrete details. Stay tuned for updates and check out our feature on everything we know.

  • Assassins Creed Shadows Gets New Trailer Showcasing Steam Features
    gamingbolt.com
Ubisoft has released a new trailer for upcoming open world game Assassins Creed Shadows, this time around focusing on the titles Steam release and the kinds of features we can expect if we grab the game on Valves storefront. Check out the trailer below.Kicking things off by showing us Assassins Creed Shadows on the Steam Deck (support for the game running on the Steam Deck was already confirmed by Ubisoft), the trailer also reveals that the game will include other Steam features, including achievements, badges and trading cards. The showcase of these supports indicates a big step for Ubisoft, since Assassins Creed Shadows will be the first mainline game to come to Steam on day one of release, rather than coming to the storefront after a delay. Traditionally, Ubisoft has released the PC versions of its titles on either exclusively its own platform (Ubisoft Connect), or on Epic Games Store thanks to exclusivity deals. After revealing all of the Steam-centric features for the game, the trailer also gives us some rapid-fire look at gameplay. The gameplay shown here focuses more on showcasing some of the gruesome kill animations that can take place depending on whether you are playing as Naoe or Yasuke.Support for the Steam Deck was an especially curious decision by Ubisoft, since the company had originally stated that Assassins Creed Shadows would not be supported on the handheld gaming PC. The company has since backtracked, however, and confirmed Steam Deck support for Assassins Creed Shadows just last week. While Ubisoft had stated that it was waiting to see the level of classification in terms of Steam Deck support from Valve, the latest trailer has confirmed that Assassins Creed Shadows will have the Verified classification at launch.Questions about whether Assassins Creed Shadows would even run on the Steam Deck first came about thanks to Ubisoft revealing the required hardware for the PC version of the game. These required specs were quite steep, with 1080p with 60 FPS settings only running on medium while still needing relatively hefty GPUs and CPUs just a couple of generations old.The PC version of Assassins Creed Shadows will include quite a few extra features over its console versions, including support for Nvidia DLSS and Intel XeSS alongside AMD FSR support, as well as uncapped framerates, HDR, and even support for ultrawide resolutions and a built-in benchmarking tool.On the console side of things, Assassins Creed Shadows will include three modes: Performance, Fidelity, and Balanced. While Performance mode will try to run the game at 60 FPS by using dynamic resolution and upscaling, Fidelity mode will make use of standard ray tracing and upscaling to output 2160p at 30 FPS. Balanced mode, on the other hand, will run at 2160p at 40 FPS.The PS5 Pro, thanks to its extra horsepower, will be able to run 2160p at 60 FPS in performance mode. Balanced and Fidelity modes will offer the same resolutions and frame rates as the base PS5, but with better visuals thanks to extended ray tracing and global illumination.

  • Roblox open sources 3D Cube model in first launch of genAI tools
    www.gamedeveloper.com
Justin Carter, Contributing EditorMarch 17, 20251 Min ReadImage via Roblox Corp.Beginning today, Roblox Corp. is making its 3D model Cube open source for all developers to "fine-tune, develop plug-ins, or train it on their own data to suit their needs."Cube is the company's foundational model for its 3D generative AI creations, and will "underpin many of the AI tools well develop in the years to come," according to the announcement. The model generates objects in fully functional 3D, and Roblox Corp. hopes its open sourcing will "enable researchers, developers, and the broader AI community to learn, augment, and advance 3D generation industry-wide."More AI tools for Roblox StudioRoblox Corp. also unveiled several AI creation tools to be used in conjunction with Cube. Its Mesh Generation API can be used inside Roblox Studio (the company's ecosystem and content creation engine) to enter text prompts that generate objects to be used in a Roblox experience. The API gives developers fewer "time-consuming" mesh generation steps to go through, and lets them "try new ideas without over-investing time or resources."For players, the company says the Mesh API "opens the door to a new wave of creativity by millions of Roblox users, making gameplay even more custom and interactive. When users create their own items within experiences, that also unlocks greater engagement, which benefits developers as well."Related:Meanwhile, the Text Generation API implements text-based AI features like narration or voice commands into experiences, enabling a "prompt-and-response" dynamic between players and the open-source LLM running the prompt.Roblox Corp. teased future AI tools would encompass "highly complex scene generation" and ultimately grow into a "multimodal model, trained on input including text, images, and video" capable of integrating with its preexisting AI tools.Read more about:Generative AIRobloxAbout the AuthorJustin CarterContributing Editor, GameDeveloper.comA Kansas City, MO native, Justin Carter has written for numerous sites including IGN, Polygon, and SyFy Wire. • Trump says Biden pardons are void because they were signed by autopen
    www.theverge.com
In a post on Truth Social overnight, President Donald Trump claims that some pardons by President Joe Biden are VOID, VACANT, AND OF NO FURTHER FORCE OR EFFECT, saying an autopen was used to forge the former Presidents signature.Trump alluded specifically to Bidens pardons for members of the House January 6th committee, claiming that the pardon signatures had been done by Autopen and that Biden knew nothing about them. He added that the people that did may have committed a crime. However, the President offered no evidence that Biden was unaware of the pardon nor that an autopen a robotic device that mechanically copies a signature had been used. Trumps post echoes claims made last week by the conservative Heritage Foundation which alleged that Bidens signature on several pardons was identical, implying the use of autopen. The New York Post further claimed that a Biden aide made unilateral determinations to sign documents using autopen. The idea that Biden was unaware of these pardons, however, is contradicted by his public statements about them. In a January 20th statement on pardoning January 6th committee staff and others, Biden said that although he felt that the recipients would ultimately be exonerated, investigations of them could irreparably damage their reputations and finances. In the years since losing the 2020 election to Biden, Trump has vowed political revenge multiple times. Before the Supreme Court issued its decision on presidential immunity, he told Time that depending on that decision, Biden, I am sure, will be prosecuted for all of his crimes. As an NPR story last year describes, Trump has said similar things about Vice President Kamala Harris, as well as Liz Cheney, who served as the vice chair of the House Select Committee on the January 6 Attack. His new Truth Social post, similarly, claims those on the Unselect Committee are subject to investigation at the highest level.Presidents and other politicians have long used autopens to sign documents, with President Ford having been among the first to admit to its use. President Barack Obama signed a bill remotely with autopen in 2011, pointing to a Bush White House legal team memo that said the President could sign something by directing another to affix ones name or seal to the document in ones presence. As Bloomberg notes, the Justice Department also held in 1929 that neither the Constitution nor statute prescribed the method by which executive clemency shall be exercised or evidenced. It is wholly for the president to decide.See More:
