Featuring old-timey instruments like the hurdy-gurdy and the bowed harp, sound effects like swords clashing or even a dragon roar, along with 9 original songs, and a bunch of effects (theres even a Torture Chamber Reverb setting), this biblically accurate sampler is perfect for people looking to experiment with their sonic portfolio, making audio for medieval-themed games like your Dungeons & Dragons sessions, or perhaps trying to emulate the musical genres of a certain Woodkid.Designer: Teenage EngineeringThe EP-1230 is almost exactly like its predecessor in format, except for the ye-olde overhaul. It sports a rather beige color scheme, with medieval fonts on the keys as well as a medieval typeface on the seven-segment screen. Switch it on and youve got hundreds of sounds to choose from, featuring everything from old instruments to audio loops, original songs, and even SFX or foley sounds. You may find navigating the settings a bit of a learning curve because even the language on the keys is in Latin, but thats all a part of the charm I guess.Beyond its extensive sound library, the EP-1320 is a fully functional instrument. Its intuitive interface features pressure-sensitive pads for triggering samples, a built-in sequencer for arranging musical ideas, and a suite of effects processors to add depth and character to sounds. The device also invites you to build on its capabilities by recording your own sounds through its built-in microphone and line input. Whether its capturing the rhythmic hammering of a blacksmiths forge or the haunting melody of a traditional instrument, the EP-1320 empowers musicians to infuse their creations with a personal touch. The samplers compact size and battery-powered operation make it a versatile tool for both studio and on-the-go music making.The overall design of the EP-1230 is interesting, as it literally applies a medieval skin onto whats ostensibly a very quirky contemporary-looking sampler. That fusion isnt something most companies can pull off (its giving Medieval Winamp skin), but I guess if I had to trust a company with doing a good job, it would probably be Teenage Engineering. That being said, the market for a medieval-themed sampler could possibly be a lot slimmer than one for the companys other products. Lyft is testing a new subscription-based feature called Price Lock, which offers commuters a capped fare on specific routes at specific times.Rideshare platforms automatically increase the cost of rides when demand is high, like during rush hour, or when supply is low. The Price Lock feature is meant to combat that surge pricing (or as Lyft calls it, primetime) for commuters who are using Lyft to go into an office or workplace during peak driving times everyday.We are going to open up a can of whoop ass on primetime, CEO David Risher said on the companys second-quarter earnings call Wednesday morning. Risher added that commuters especially know what their ride should cost and hate it when prices change.The subscription offering will cost under $5 monthly, Risher said.Its part of Rishers broader effort to take on the number of rides impacted by surge pricing. The company cant completely eradicate the practice, he said, but they can make an effort to lower the number of rides with increased prices to attract customers who may go to competitor Uber. Compared to the first quarter, the number of rides impacted by surge pricing was down 25%, Risher said. That contributes to better conversion rates.But that potential to draw in more customers didnt appease investors from the broader economics. Lyft shares dropped more than 12% after the company provided a soft forecast for its third quarter.Lyft expected gross bookings between $4 billion and $4.1 billion for the third quarter, which is usually when business is booming thanks to tourism. Analysts, meanwhile, were expecting $4.13 billion. Its adjusted earnings guidance was also below Wall Streets expectations.

Although Pixar's Inside Out 2 is the highest-grossing movie of the summer, Deadpool and Wolverine is catching up fast and closing in on $1 billion worldwide by this weekend. That's a testament to the drawing power of leading men Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, who only briefly shared the screen 15 years earlier in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Additional dialogue recording is a common practice for films and TV shows, but Jackman seems to be very animated while acting out the fight again.Jackman's vocal recordings were incorporated into the final version of Deadpool and Wolverine in theaters. And there's almost certainly got to be footage of Reynolds doing the same thing for his side of this Wolverine and Deadpool fight. Whether Reynolds will post those clips himself remains to be seen.
