Light of Motiram - which is definitely not Horizon Zero Dawn - is coming to PS5 and mobile, check out a 16-minute gameplay trailer
How is this AlloywedLight of Motiram - which is definitely not Horizon Zero Dawn - is coming to PS5 and mobile, check out a 16-minute gameplay trailerSee the Horizon comparisons firsthand, also some Palworld too?Image credit: POLARIS QUEST News by Connor Makar Staff Writer Published on Nov. 29, 2024 Light of Motiram, which has gained some critical ire due to its clear and ample "inspiration" of the Horizon series, is coming to PS5 and mobile platforms. Also, there's a 16 minute gameplay trailer out too! You can watch it yourself, and see just how far the comparisons go. Shocker, it's a lot like Horizon, and Palworld too? This news surrounding new platforms for the game came via official social media accounts for the game on Weibo, making the game the latest in the Chinese video game industry's venture into the console market. This is good news of course for PS5 and beefy mobile owners looking for some new games from an emerging market in the future. However, with no release date yet out there, how long we'll have to wait until the game actually is playable remains a mystery.Watch the Light of Motiram trailer hereWatch on YouTubeAs for the gameplay trailer, it's a chunky demonstration of what players will eventually be able to do in Light of Motiram. We see the player character fight and command various mechanical beasts in a vast open world, as well as engage enemies with their trusty bow in a fashion quite similar to Horizon. However, Palworld seems to be another major inspiration here, as the player is able to build and maintain a base with the assistance of mechanical workers. It's worth noting the satirical workplace abuse present in Palworld seems to be absent here. After all, if robots can't be sad, they can hardly complain about back-breaking labour and short breaks. To see this content please enable targeting cookies. The game looks pretty good! Obviously, you've got to personally weigh up if you're cool with the game's absorption of other game's aesthetics and gameplay systems, but if you're not bothered by that sort of thing then it appears as a appealing merging of current popular games. Whether or not the game can overcome the repuation it gained since its reveal among some gamers remains to be seen, though maybe it won't even be a concern at all! After all, these same critisisms were levied at Palworld, and that turned out to be a hugely popular game. We'll have to sit back and watch how widespread this style of development in the current age of the video game industry develops. What do you think of it! Let us know below!

Lies of P will get some major DLC in Q1 2025, as Neowiz cracks on with a new survival horror game
Spooky FutureLies of P will get some major DLC in Q1 2025, as Neowiz cracks on with a new survival horror gameA clear window into the future of Neowiz, courtesy of a Korean article.Image credit: Neowiz Games News by Connor Makar Staff Writer Published on Nov. 29, 2024 Good news Lies of P fans, the game's upcoming DLC is set to release in Q1 of 2025. In addition, the developer Neowiz is currently working on a sci-fi survival horror game.Precious little is still known about this DLC. We have the snowy screenshot provided by the game director from earlier this year, but the scope or further details on where we'll go or what we'll do remains a mystery. Still, with a Q1 2025 release window, we're sure to get a more comprehensive look in the near future!Neowiz's Round 8 studio is maintaining the momentum gained from the widely loved Lies of P, with this pseudo-roadmap for the studio stemming from Korean news website EBN. As for Studio 8's next game, a spokesperson stated the game will be developed with Unreal Engine 5 and is targeting both PC and consoles. To see this content please enable targeting cookies. Round 8 has stated the game will be a "survival horror project set in a SF world", and has begun hiring staff for this game. When asked by EBN, a spokesperson stated that "it is still too early to disclose the progress of the project", though they also noted that this is indeed one of the PC and console games Round 8 is working on.The current market for sci-fi horror games is interesting. We've seen some big AAA releases come out to mixed reception. While the Dead Space remake was beloved by many, it didn't prove popular enough to warrant additional exploring into the series from EA. Then there's The Callisto Protocol, which was a bold but ultimately unsuccessful attempt to kick off a new IP in the AAA sci-fi horror space. One may find more hope and merit in the indie space. While not exactly in the same vein as the previously mentioned games, Mouthwashing has proven extremely popular (too right, it's fantastic) garnering a vast fanbase online. You could also point to games like Lethal Company in the same genre, another viral hit, though a far ways distant from big AAA hits that Round 8 is likely working on.Ultimately, the genre is ripe for more attention. And, with Round 8 proving itself a great talent at creating new IPs, it's in a prime position to do well. We'll have to sit back and see what it cooks up!

    Canadian news companies sue OpenAI
A group of Canadian news and media companies filed a lawsuit Friday against OpenAI, alleging that the ChatGPT maker has infringed their copyrights and unjustly enriched itself at their expense. The companies behind the lawsuit include the Toronto Star, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, the Globe and Mail, and others who seek to win monetary damages and ban OpenAI from making further use of their work. The news companies said that OpenAI has used content scraped from their websites to train the large language models that power ChatGPT content that is the product of immense time, effort, and cost on behalf of the News Media Companies and their journalists, editors, and staff. The companies wrote in their suit that rather than seek to obtain the information legally, OpenAI has elected to brazenly misappropriate the News Media Companies valuable intellectual property and convert it for its own uses, including commercial uses, without consent or consideration.OpenAI is also facing copyright lawsuits from The New York Times, New York Daily News, YouTube creators, and authors including comedian Sarah Silverman. While OpenAI has signed licensing deals with publishers such as The Associated Press, Axel Springer, and Le Monde, the companies behind the new suit said they have never received from OpenAI any form of consideration, including payment, in exchange for OpenAIs use of their Works. An OpenAI spokesperson said in a statement that ChatGPT is used by hundreds of millions of people around the world to improve their daily lives, inspire creativity, and solve hard problems, and that its models are trained on publicly available data, grounded in fair use and related international copyright principles that are fair for creators and support innovation. We collaborate closely with news publishers, including in the display, attribution and links to their content in ChatGPT search, and offer them easy ways to opt-out should they so desire, the spokesperson said. This new lawsuit comes shortly after Columbia Universitys Tow Center for Digital Journalism published a study finding that no publisher regardless of degree of affiliation with OpenAI was spared inaccurate representations of its content in ChatGPT.
