    gamingbolt.com
The Witcher 4was officially announced at The Game Awards on Thursday, ending the night as one of the events biggest announcements by far. With an extensive cinematic reveal trailer, CD Projekt RED revealed that the next instalment in the franchise will star Ciri as its new protagonist- but though weve known that Geralt wouldnt be the protagonist of newWitchertitles any longer for a while now, is he still going to have some role to play?As it turns out, he will. Doug Cockle, the voice actor of Geralt of Rivia, let slip earlier this year that he would be reprising his role as the old Witcher in the series next instalment, even if he wouldnt be returning as the protagonist this time. That has now been officially confirmed by CD Projekt RED in a statement to IGN.Geralt will appear in the game, but we dont want to spoil his role precisely. Youll have to wait to learn more for now, a spokesperson for the studio said.Cockles voice as Geralt of Rivia was, of course, heard at the end ofThe Witcher 4srecent announcement trailer, but there- we now have official confirmation. Not much else is known aboutThe Witcher 4just yet, other than the fact that its being built on Unreal Engine 5, and that it will kick off a new trilogy of open world action RPGs. Stay tuned for more information in the coming months. The game entered full production earlier this year.

  • All we learned from Witcher 4 reveal trailer as fans desperate for more
    www.dailystar.co.uk
Witcher 4 has been formally revealed, and there's a lot to learn from the game's first trailer even though it's expected to be years away here's all we learnedTech14:33, 13 Dec 2024Ciri is a Witcher now, or at least on the path to becoming oneThe Game Awards was packed with reveals last night with a new Elden Ring game, urban combat in Helldivers 2 and an imminent Warframe 1999 release date (although nothing for GTA 6), but perhaps one of its most surprising was the first one.CD Projekt had already confirmed a new Witcher saga was in development, but the first trailer for the Witcher 4, a game likely still some years away from release, was certainly unexpected. The cinematic trailer acts as a great tone piece for what's to come, and fans have been picking it apart in the hours since. Here's all we know so far, and we'll keep it spoiler-free for anyone that hasn't finished The Witcher 3 yet.The Witcher 3 launched in 2015, followed by two expansions, and while it focused on Geralt of Rivia, he spent much of the game chasing after his adoptive daughter, Ciri.As it turns out, Ciri will be our protagonist in The Witcher 4, but she appears to have fewer powers than she did in the last game, with some theories suggesting this is a new reality that stands separate from the original trilogy, or that it follows on from one specific Witcher 3 ending. She's got the eyes of a Witcher, but in Witcher lore only males can become Witchers through the Trial of the Grasses, so it'll be interesting to see how that's explained. The stunning cinematic is drenched in sadnessThe whole trailer had shades of the Leshen sidequest in the last game, as a woman was seemingly prepared for her death at the hands of a mysterious creature as part of a ritual to keep her village safe, before Ciri pushes her aside and enters the creature's lair herself, using a potion and battling a pretty horrific looking monster that's all limbs. Ciri uses magic that Geralt didn't have access to here, suggesting she may have other skills beyond the standard 'Signs' of a Witcher.Expect new monsters as part of Ciri's questStill, with the young woman slain by her fellow villagers as a sacrifice for the gods, it appears likely that humanity will still be the most fearsome foe throughout Witcher 4.Geralt's voice is added on the end, too, saying "Time for a new saga, see you on the path", which seemingly suggests he'll return in some capacity. So, why all these monsters? In The Witcher universe, they snuck in through dimensional rifts during an event called the Conjunction of Spheres, and some have speculated that the phenomenon occurred again at the end of the Witcher 3, bringing yet more creepies into the world. There's a good chance we don't see anything further from the game now for quite some time, but for now, I'll be rewatching it again on a loop.Article continues belowFor the latest breaking news and stories from across the globe from the Daily Star, sign up for our newsletters.RECOMMENDED

  • Apples AI Disastrously Rewrote a BBC Headline to Say Luigi Mangione Shot Himself
    gizmodo.com
By Thomas Maxwell Published December 14, 2024 | Comments (2) | Apple Intelligence rewrote a BBC headline to say the UHC CEO's murderer had shot himself. Anthony Davis/DreamSmith LLC Apple has only just begun rolling out a much-hyped suite of AI features for its devices, and we are already seeing major problems. Case in point, the BBC has complained to Apple after an AI-powered notification summary rewrote a BBC headline to say the UHC CEOs murderer Luigi Mangione had shot himself. Mangione did not shoot himself and remains in police custody.Apple Intelligence includes a feature on iOS that tries to relieve users of fatigue by bundling and summarizing notifications coming in from individual apps. For instance, if a user receives multiple text messages from one person, instead of displaying them all in a long list, iOS will now try and summarize the push alerts into one concise notification. It turns outand this should not surprise anyone familiar with generative AIthe intelligence in Apple Intelligence belies the fact that the summaries are sometimes unfortunate or just plain wrong. Notification summaries were first introduced to iOS in version 18.1 which was released back in October; earlier this week, Apple added native integration with ChatGPT in Siri.A notification from the BBC app that includes an incorrect summary. In an article, the BBC shared a screenshot of a notification summarizing three different stories that had been sent as push alerts. The notification reads: Luigi Mangione shoots himself; Syrian mother hopes Assad pays the price; South Korea police raid Yoon Suk Yeols office. The other summaries were correct, the BBC says. The BBC has complained to Apple about the situation, which is embarrassing for the tech company but also risks damaging the reputation of news media if readers believe they are sending out misinformation. They have no control over how iOS decides to summarize their push alerts.BBC News is the most trusted news media in the world, a BBC spokesperson said for the story. It is essential to us that our audiences can trust any information or journalism published in our name and that includes notifications. Apple declined to respond to the BBCs questions about the snafu. Artificial Intelligence has a lot of potential in many areas, but language models are perhaps one of the worst implementations. But there is a lot of corporate hope that the technology will become good enough that enterprises could rely on it for uses like customer support chat or searching through large collections of internal data. But its not there yetin fact, enterprises using AI have said they still have to do lots of editing of the work it produces. It feels somewhat uncharacteristic of Apple to deeply integrate such unreliable and unpredictable technology into its products. Apple has no control over ChatGPTs outputsthe chatbots creator OpenAI can barely control the language models, and their behavior is constantly being tweaked. Summaries of short notifications should be the easiest thing for AI to do well, and Apple is flubbing even that.At the very least, some of Apple Intelligences features demonstrate how AI could potentially have practical uses. Better photo editing and a focus mode that understands which notifications should be sent through are nice. But for a company associated with polished experiences, wrong notification summaries and a hallucinating ChatGPT could make iOS feel unpolished. It feels like they are rushing on the hype train in order to juice new iPhone salesan iPhone 15 Pro or newer is required to use the features.Daily NewsletterYou May Also Like Barbara Rodriguez and Jasmine Mithani for The 19th Published December 14, 2024 By Kyle Barr Published December 14, 2024 By Kyle Barr Published December 13, 2024 By Thomas Maxwell Published December 12, 2024 By Kyle Barr Published December 12, 2024 By Thomas Maxwell Published December 11, 2024

  • A New Captain America Promo Puts the Weight of the World on Sams Wings
    gizmodo.com
Update:For whatever reason, Marvel UK has a longer, trailer-length version of the Brave New Worldvideo. Well got it here for you, and its key difference is a brief look at Sidewinder attacking Sam and no stinger teasing Joaquin becoming the Falcon, like in the shorter US version. Original story: Were two whole months out from Captain America: Brave New World, and Marvels gradually starting its promo cycle for the Anthony Mackie-led film. Like withThunderbolts*not too long ago, the studios got a special look for the film that basically functions as another trailer or commercial.Primarily, the special look teases the heros emotional arc: now that Sams Captain America, President Thaddeus Ross (Harrison Ford) wants him to be an asset for the U.S. government again, and tugs at Sams patriotic heartstrings to get the right answer. We know the Head of State will be shot by Sams old friend Isaiah Bradley later in the film, and that Sam goes about investigating the attack and uncovering the forces behind it. But according to VO from Samuel Sterns (Tim Blake Nelson), Sam doesnt even know what this is, and he may not be entirely prepared for Giancarlo Espositos Sidewinder or Ross morphing into the Red Hulk. (But then, could anyone be ready for the president to suddenly become a flaming rage monster?) While light on new footage, the promo finally offers a true look at the other superhero to grace Brave New World:Joaquin Torres, Danny Ramirezs character fromFalcon and the Winter Soldier, has gotten some high-tech wings of his own and taken Sams mantle to become the new Falcon. So far, previous trailers have just shown Joaquin in his civilian clothes or offered very brief glimpses of him in his suit. This films trying to mimic the spy thriller style ofWinter Soldier, which debuted Mackies burgeoning hero, so everythings coming full circle. Captain America: Brave New Worldhits theaters on February 14, 2025. Along with the special look, Marvel released a brand new poster below featuring the main cast.Want more io9 news? Amidst great anticipation, Ilios Beach Club and Nalu Surf Club Abu Dhabi have opened doors on Hudayriyat Island, serving as premier venues within Surf Abu Dhabi, the world's largest and most advanced artificial wave facility developed by Modon Properties. The two restaurants would be operated by ADMO Lifestyle Holding. Leading the interior design of the two luxurious F&B venues, ELASTIC were inspired by the exhilarating interaction between surfers and the ocean. As a place for surfers to feel at ease, emulating the euphoria of being one with the swirling waves, the venues were designed to capture a surfer's diving performance in a thrilling spatial choreography that interplays with intensity, rhythm and balance.Save this picture!Ilios Beach Club and Nalu Surf Club were creatively designed by ELASTIC to provide a dynamic, all-day experience each with a distinct character.
