  • The Callisto Protocols Striking Distance Studios Lays Off Most of the Developers
    cgshares.com
Amidst the rumors and speculations surrounding the third title in development at Striking Distance Studios the team behind survival horror The Callisto Protocol and action roguelike [REDACTED] the company has conducted a major round of layoffs, affecting, as one impacted employee describes it, most of the developers at the studio.Striking Distance StudiosRevealed by at least a couple dozen laid-off workers on LinkedIn, the layoffs took place late last week and affected employees across various roles and departments, including both newcomers and studio veterans with five or more years of tenure at Striking Distance.According to one such post, made by the studios now-former Concept Art Director Jesse Lee, the layoffs impacted most of the devs at SDS, however, due to varying reports on the studios pre-layoff headcount, its difficult to determine the exact number of affected employees, with estimates ranging from 30 to over a hundred laid-off developers.Whats even more disheartening is that the news about the terminations comes in the same month weve gotten word about Striking Distances next title. While it hasnt been officially announced by the studio and remains in the top secret folder, small hints and details shared by the developers have revealed it to be a standalone multiplayer third-person action game powered by Unreal Engine 5.Unfortunately, with the recent layoffs and the Careers section on SDS official website featuring no job openings, the fate of the rumored game seems grim, as its likely to join the list of games canceled in 2025 even before being officially announced. At the moment of writing, both Striking Distance and its parent company Krafton remain tight-lipped regarding the job cuts and have not addressed or acknowledged them in official blogs or on social media. 80 Level has reached out to the affected developers to gather more information about the layoffs and the reasons behind them.Dont forget to join our80 Level Talent platformand ournew Discord server, follow us onInstagram,Twitter,LinkedIn,Telegram,TikTok, andThreads, where we share breakdowns, the latest news, awesome artworks, and more.Source link The post The Callisto Protocols Striking Distance Studios Lays Off Most of the Developers appeared first on CG SHARES.

  • Rumored God Of War Remasters For PS5 Could Be Revealed In March
    www.gamespot.com
Remasters of the classic God of Wars games are reportedly in development, and it's rumored that they could be revealed next month, just in time for the 20th anniversary of the franchise.According to reporter Jeff Grubb of GameSpot sister site Giant Bomb--who was commenting on artwork set to be shown off next month during a God of War anniversary event--the previous reports had been premature and he believes the rumored remasters will be announced near the March anniversary. "I think that those God of War remaster rumors just jumped the gun a little bit. That stuff will happen closer to this," Grubb wrote in a Bluesky post. God of War remaster rumors began heating up late last year, with sources claiming that the first three mainline entries and the 2013 prequel God of War: Ascension were being developed under Nixxes. Sony and God of War studio Sony Santa Monica have declined to comment on the topic, but if there is an inkling of truth to the current reports, then it won't be a long wait to see these remasters officially revealed.Continue Reading at GameSpot

  • New Star Wars Game Seemingly Unaffected By Major NetEase Shakeup
    www.gamespot.com
Quantic Dream, the developer behind the upcoming Star Wars Eclipse, has apparently been unaffected by the recent shakeup over at NetEase."We want to reassure everyone that our studios in Paris and Montreal remain unaffected," explained Quantic Dream CEO Guillaume de Fondaumire on LinkedIn. "We are continuing to develop our projects at full pace, with several open positions available in both locations."Earlier this month, NetEase laid off the US-based employees working on Marvel Rivals. NetEase is reportedly shopping its non-China studios around, even though NetEase publicly reaffirmed its commitment to its overseas developers. The studio behind Blood of Dawnwalker, Rebel Wolves, said that it is also safe despite NetEase's layoffs.Continue Reading at GameSpot
