Unlike past Call of Duty games, this year's Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will not allow players to choose a difficulty level for the campaign. Associate creative director Miles Leslie said that the difficulty scale for Black Ops 7 is "baked in" as opposed to being something a player can choose.The reason for this comes down to how Black Ops 7's campaign can be played in co-op."We've built it for solo or four-player squads as well. You cannot pick a difficulty like past games. Specifically, Platinum created a new version of Snake's Nightmare, an Easter egg that longtime fans of MGS3 will no doubt relish the return of.Snake's Nightmare is a third-person action sequence that is accessed by saving the game when Snake is captured and thrown in prison. When the save file is reloaded, instead of going back to the prison, players wake up in a hellish otherworld where a mysterious man wielding hook-swords takes on demons in a graveyard.The minigame, also known to fans as Guy Savage, was originally written and directed by Shuyo Murata, who contributed to a number of other Metal Gear Solid projects as part of the original Kojima Productions team. There's a good chance that, at some point in your life, you've been so enamored of a piece of media that you've considered what it'd be like to experience it for the first time again. Watching Terminator 2, hearing Enter the Wu-Tang, and reading The Dark Knight Returns shaped who I am and, as a result, I remember the moments I experienced them with crystal clarity. Over time, however, those memories have become divorced from the emotions they stirred and what's left in their place is a longing for those lost feelings.Video games are the only medium that I think are capable of making that first-time-again fantasy a reality--or as close to one as we're going to get. Time puts distance between us and the emotionally significant moments we cherish, but it also brings us closer to exciting technologies that can make the old feel new. In the right hands, those technologies can create opportunities to stoke those profound emotions again, even if it's just a little. Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater does exactly that.Before getting into what's new, what can't be overlooked in making Delta such a good game is the fact that Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater remains a compelling, well-told story that has strong characterization and deals with some heavy subject matter. It approaches this with a strange mixture of self-seriousness and complete irreverence that is uniquely Metal Gear Solid and, for my money, balances both parts better than any other entry in the series. The stellar stealth is supported by systems that feed into the fantasy of surviving in the jungle and braving the elements, whether that be hunting for food or patching yourself up after sustaining injuries. Delta replicates it and, in my opinion, is better for it. The first trailer for Devil May Cry: Season 2 has been revealed, showing off more of what fans can expect from producer and showrunner Adi Shankar's animated take on the cult-classic Capcom games. This time, Devil May Cry is using one of the best tricks from the games, as it's adding Dante's brother Vergil to its anime-inspired universe. The new season will land on Netflix in 2026, and you can check out the first trailer for it below. Devil May Cry's first season laid the groundwork for a brewing war between humanity and the demon realm, ending with a very unsubtle parallel to the 2003 Second Gulf War. Call of Duty's latest event for Black Ops 6 and Warzone is themed around '90s action heroes, and in addition to free cosmetic rewards, you can also unlock new items for your custom loadouts. Here we'll guide you on how to unlock the Boxing Glove melee weapon, Mister Peeks field upgrade, and all other event rewards.The '90s Action Heroes event is live from now until September 4. There are 13 free rewards for everyone to earn, and one additional reward available for those who own the $30 BlackCell premium pass.This is one of Call of Duty's XP-based events, meaning you can unlock rewards simply by playing matches across Black Ops 6 multiplayer, Zombies, and Warzone. In February 2004, Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor was a hit out of the gate when it sold one million copies during its first week in early access. Now, this top-down single-player shooter is ready for its full launch next month. And as announced at Gamescom, Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor is also heading to Xbox Series X|S and Game Pass. Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor will hit PC and Xbox Series X|S on September 17. GameSpot's Chris Pereira greatly enjoyed Survivor in early access, and compared it to Vampire Survivor. The game places players in control of a single dwarf miner, who can assume one of four classes: Driller, Engineer, Scout, and Gunner. Each class gives the dwarf different abilities and options as he explores Hoxxes IV, a procedurally generated planet filled with hostile aliens and riches beyond imagining.Ghost Ship Games set the date for Survivor's release earlier this year, while noting that the decision to launch forced the publisher to drop Endless Mode from the game. The devs at Funday Games noted that keeping Endless Mode posed several technical challenges that would have bogged down the game's release. Goddess of Victory: Nikke--the sci-fi-RPG gallery shooter on mobile and PC from the developer of Stellar Blade--is adding one of the most famous heroines in video game history to its roster. As teased during Gamescom, the Goddess of Victory: Nikke Resident Evil collaboration will feature Jill Valentine, one of the original RE game's main characters. The initial teaser features a cult as it prepares to take part in a gruesome ritual. Poli--one of the characters from Goddess of Victory--is briefly seen when she is grabbed by someone with a bloodstained hand. The initial trailer hid Jill's debut, but developer Shift Up subsequently confirmed it was her.Jill Valentine in Goddess of Victory: Nikke x Resident Evil.Shift Up also hinted that Jill may not be the only RE character to appear during this crossover. Further details about the collaboration's story and launch date are being withheld for now. But this isn't the first time that Goddess of Victory has been given a prominent crossover. Previous collaborations have included characters from Evangelion and Nier: Automata. The 1,508-piece Optimus Prime Lego figure sold out everywhere at the end of July, which has substantially inflated reseller prices. But Transformers fans don't need to overpay for Lego Optimus Prime, as Amazon just restocked its inventory and is offering a $10 discount. The $170 deal price isn't nearly as good as the $144 offer you could find before Soundwave joined the series, but it's a lot better than recent prices.Amazon is likely to sell out of the Optimus Prime deal. PS5 Slim Digital Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Bundle $400 | Valued at $570 starting August 21. See at PS Direct The PS5 Slim Digital Black Ops 6 bundle is in stock at PlayStation Direct for $400, but it probably won't be available for much longer. In what seemed like an inevitability, PlayStation announced hardware price increases in the US on PS5 consoles. All three models are increasing by $50 on August 21, which bumps the PS5 Slim Digital from $450 to $500.Released in May, the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 PS5 Slim Digital bundle already offered terrific value at its $400 promotional price. Based on current prices, the bundle is valued at $520. Even if you don't care about Call of Duty, you're still saving $50 versus buying the console on its own. Based on the new PS5 prices, the savings doubles to $100 just for the console. Black Ops 6 is just the cherry on top here.PlayStation also released a regular PS5 Slim version of this bundle for $450, but it's no longer in stock at any retailers. Since this is a promotional console bundle, it's unlikely to increase in price alongside the standalone PS5 Slim Digital. Multiplayer in Call of Duty games has become colorful over the last few years, as players have been able to dress up as their favorite celebrities and pop-culture icons before dropping into a match. Between WWE performers and I Know What You Did Last Summer's iconic slasher, there have also been original creations mixed in, and this has been met with a mixed reception by the playerbase. With Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 on the way, Activision has spoken about how it's listening to fan feedback and how it will "calibrate" what it has to offer when the game launches in November."We have thought about this, and I think if you look at us, we're always looking at community feedback," Black Ops 7 associate creative director Miles Leslie said to IGN. "We always try to make sure that we are trying to touch the widest audience. I've had the pleasure of working on Call of Duty now for almost 20 years, and we're constantly looking at ways to push into different audiences and fans, and that's what you saw with that; there are fans that really love it. Obviously, there are fans who those may not be their favorite. We're going to try to calibrate that as we move forward, and we take that feedback seriously."In comparison, Battlefield 6 will have more "grounded" skins in the game, according to design director Shashank Uchil, who referenced Call of Duty's unusual DLC skins. "I don't think it needs Nicki Minaj. Let's keep it real, keep it grounded," Uchil said.
