  • ‘Balls, Dice & Stickers’ Creates Carefully Planned Mayhem

Balls, Dice & Stickers asks you to launch a ball at some dice that trigger a ton of ridiculous effects each time you hit them.

I am not sure what I did to upset paperclips, mice, and the manifestations of the past, but they’re all here to give me a hard time unless I beat them up with some damaging dice. I won’t be rolling those dice, though. That would be a little too straightforward in this delightfully chaotic game. Instead, I’ll be launching a ball at the dice and trying to get the ball to bounce around the room, hitting the dice as much as possible before the ball pings out the bottom of the screen.

Except THAT is also not all there is to it. Each round, you get a sticker you can apply to one of your dice. These stickers cause wildly varied effects that often build off of the other stickers. For instance, you can add a beehive to one of the dice. This can spawn a bee, which in turn will shoot needles at certain things and will like other objects. Tape adds a banana to the playing field which can provide you points. The Pub spawns a drunk driver, and that drunk driver might get caught by the police car that you spawn from landing on another die. And these dice effects all stack on top of one another as you progress through the rounds, resulting in a bustling field of dozens of bizarre, silly effects all working in tandem with one another.
Balls, Dice & Stickers is really something to behold after you’ve got a few rounds under your belt. Describing it really doesn’t do justice to how much fun this game is once it gets rolling, so I highly recommend trying out the alpha build on itch.io. I can’t even imagine how much sillier it’s going to get in its full release.
Balls, Dice & Stickers is availble nowon itch.io. You can add the future full release of the game to your Wishlist on Steam.

  • ‘Color Lim’ Changes Your Hue to Solve Platforming Puzzles

Color Lim is a puzzle platformer where you need to use your slimy color-switching ability to solve puzzles and save a small village.

This is a fantastic, smooth puzzle platform that has you playing a colorless slime called Lim who is looking to find their true color. At first, you aren’t really colorless – you are blue, but this isn’t your true and only color, as you can change and adapt when needed. Why is that important? Because in this world, color determines everything.

Being able to absorb and transform to different colors allows you to go through specific platforms or to spray slime and then slide into the walls of the world, finding a new way to navigate around. There isn’t a limit on your own slime, so you are able to blast out some goop and then inject yourself into the walls, moving quickly around levels and solving puzzles. There are enemies that are looking to harm you, too, but these can be easily avoided most of the time.
Color Lim doesn’t just have endless platforms to enjoy, but also has a little story showcased through cute characters who seem quite helpful! In this world, something bad has happened, and now there is a small village that is rebuilding, needing your help. As someone with such a great ability, you can find yourself using your colors to help them.

I got to play a short demo of Color Lim at Pocket Gamer Connects Barcelona where I really liked how sleek and fast the movement felt for the game. The cute characters and little hints of a story captivated me, especially when exploring the town. However, I did feel that sometimes it wasn’t obvious what to do next or where to go – especially in the town where the platforms were hard to determine against what was just the background. Hopefully, these minor issues will be fixed before release.

Color Lim is currently in development, but in the meantime, you can add it to your Steam Wishlist.

  • ‘Cattle Crisis’ Scrambles Between Shots to Collect Powerful Cows

Cattle Crisis sees aliens making off with our precious cows, so you’ll need to gun those ships down to rescue our beloved bovine buddies.

The game only features a single level, but you’d best believe I have not been able to complete it yet as it makes the most of its brief playtime. Enemies come at you hard and fast, each covering the screen in various bullet patterns that overlap with only a little room to spare. Thankfully it’s just enough to scoot your ship to safety most of the time if you’re precise, but I am unfortunately not particularly precise with my controller movements the more frantic things get on the screen. Even with generous checkpoints and a single level, my shaky hands don’t make this easy.

Like most spaceship shooters, there’s some extra powerful boosts you can put to smart use. As you down ships, you will release the kidnapped cows that are inside some of them. Collecting these cows increases your Hyper Bar, and once that’s halfway full, you can shift into Hyper Mode and really blast your enemies. Taking a hit in this mode won’t kill you, but you will drop out of Hyper Mode. You can earn way more cowsby shooting foes point-blank, so it’s up to you how much risk you want to take to get into Hyper Mode faster and crank up that score.
Cattle Crisis is short but offers a great deal of challenge and possibilities for high scores through careful risk-taking. Just the same, it offers a handful of checkpoints you can start fromif you feel your shooter skills aren’t amazing. It’s sharp, sounds great, and handles well, creating a nice bite-sized shooter package.

  • ‘The Midnight Walk’ Escapes Clay Horrors With a Cute/Creepy Pal

The Midnight Walk finds you in a gloomy world where fire is your friendbut a living lantern is an even greater buddy.

You are The Burnt One, and you find yourself wandering through a world overtaken by darkness. Given that it’s perpetually night here, fire is an extremely valuable light source. Then again, you might not really want to see the things that are skulking around this world more clearly. There are some really creepy claymation monstrosities that are out to get you as you explore the game’s five different stories, and they are more than happy to give you an eyeful of their every unsettling detail as they devour you whole.

Now, I am especially susceptible to claymation creatures. A youth spent stumbling across claymation horrors like Large Marge in Pee Wee’s Big Adventure has given me a tremendous weak spot, and this game hits that hard with its creative array of monsters and just how fast they can start to chase you down. However, this game also tries to redeem the creepy claymation creature for me with Potboy, our scary, yet endearing and cute companion for most of the journey. Something about his uneasiness to go on this adventure and the slow trust you build with him over the course of the game left me caring a great deal about his safety. Valuing him as a friend in a frightening place that I’m glad I didn’t have to walk alone.
The Midnight Walk is frightening in its encounters with its many creative monsters, but it also highlights how important it is to have someone to face your fears with together, even if you were initially scared of that buddy to begin with.
The Midnight Walk is available now on the PlayStation Store and Steam.

You are The Burnt One, and you find yourself wandering through a world overtaken by darkness. • ‘lineoff’ Hops Around to Grab Dust From a Running Machine

lineoff sends you deep into a very dangerous machine filled with moving saw blades so you can clean all the dust out of it.

I am not sure this job would pass any sort of health and safety inspection, but given how many dangerous tasks I’ve had to do over my years of employment at various places, I would not be surprised if there’s a couple of places out there that would put you to work doing this. Anyway, your job is to clean out small specks of dust so this fast, deadly cutting machine runs smoothly. Naturally, no one is going to lock out the machine while you do it, so expect to hop around like your life depends on it.

It does not take very long before those blades start coming at you in pairs and move like someone at the controls is increasing the speed. There is a running counter at the top of the screen to let you know how many dust motes you manage to pick up before youget gutted by one of the rushing blades. It’s not all in vain if you die in the service of your employer, though. The overall number of dust motes you pick up adds to a running total that steadily unlocks new colors for the game. So, the next employee in line can find themselves cut in half in an entirely new shade of spiffy machine. Isn’t that wonderful?
lineoff is fast, frantic, and straightforward, and it doesn’t take long before it has you leaning over and tense at your keyboard as you thread yourself between the lethal hazards. Although I hope your own job is at least a little less dangerous than this.

  • ‘Is This Yours?’ Finds Odd Missing Items for Impatient Animals

In Is This Yours?,by going through four bins and finding their missing items.

The game itself is extremely simple, with the first world being at an airport’s lost and found. You see an animal looking for a specific item appear at the bottom of the screen. You need to read what they are looking for, then find the item in one of the four boxes, bringing the item to the designated place at the top of the screen. In all of the levels, the animals looking for their lost items do get frustrated quickly, so you need to find the items fast!

Once you’ve completed a level, you can go to the next. Each level of Is This Yours? has the items in different places, sometimes buried under other items, and sometimes boxes are even empty. The phrasing for the various items stays the same, so it’s easy to learn what you are looking for without reading it all, but the animals often ask for different items each time. If you aren’t a fan of racing against the timer while digging for stuff, there is a Zen mode where you are just whittling down the item to the final thing.
You can easily finish Is This Yours? in one sitting. It’s a relaxing game that feels a little repetitive as you get to the end. I am also not sure if all of these items would be allowed in an airport. At the moment, the game only has the airport chapter, but there seems to be a second chapter in the works, as you can already see the levels laid out for this bit!
If you are looking for a simple game that you can finish in an afternoon and you want to sort out things, it’s got cute visuals and feels nice!
Is This Yours? is available for free on iOS and Android.

The Deadseat has you playing games in the back seat of the car, using items pulled from the game world to save you in real life.

You’re a child on a long nighttime drive home and your parents are bickering back and forth. You’re hungry, but they seem too caught in their fight to care very much. In fact, they’re so caught up in their fight that they don’t notice that something keeps crawling onto the roof of the car. Or that it is trying to break into the back seat to get their child. Thankfully you’re resourceful AND you have a handheld console game that gives you helpful tools in the ‘real’ world if you collect them within the game world.

Juggling the real world and the game world is the hard part, though. Once you collect a camera within the game, you can use it to snap pictures of the beast as it tries to creep into your car, making it flee due to the flash. However, you’ll need to skulk around the world of your video game to find further supplies to keep this thing at bay. For instance, the car needs gas, and you only pick that up within the game by swerving around a track and picking up cans in your path. You can’t exactly pause this game, though, when a two-headed horror starts to gnaw on your head, so you will miss those gas cans as you use the camera to get the monster to back off. Managing several different tasks while scaring off the monster is a stressful tightrope to walk, but you’ll need to if you want to survive this drive.
The Deadseat is incredibly stressful to play, stretching you so thin that its scares hit like a truck. But it’s extremely satisfying if you like being startled and having your heart pound out of your chest.
The Deadseat is available now on Steam.

  • ‘Gratis’ Sees You Selling Magically Monstrous Wares

Gratis sees you twisting what people want when they come to your shop, selling them unsettling horrors under the guise of helping them.

You’ve set up shop in a new town. I’m not quite sure who or what you are, but you definitely excel at having just the right thing your customer thinks they need. Or at least something that seems like what they need. Each day, a series of unique, colorful people will walk through your doors. Jesters, knights, children, guardians, workers – every person thinks they need something, don’t they? And they all eventually make their way to your shop to see what you have for them. Especially as word of mouth spreads early on.

You will have an array of items to offer each day, although there is a specific item for each person. This narrative horror game won’t let you giving that cackling skull to just anyone. Still, you can practically feel who each item is meant for, so you won’t take long finding what they need. As the days progress, the items will gain more sinister abilities, but you’ll pluck them from your shelf and offer them all the same. As the Jester’s laughter spreads, you almost can’t help to hand them something else that will make the mirth more and more uncontrollable. Whether you do it from compulsion, malice, or cruel curiosity, you’ll keep giving these folks what they want if they dare to step through your door.
Gratis offers a handful of different storylines based on the random people you serve each time you play it, giving you an array of grim stories each time you work through it’s fifteen to twenty minute play time. It’s worth coming back to feel out how these various stories play out, although you might not feel too good about yourself once you close up shop on the final day.
    Gratis is available nowon itch.io.

  • ‘Little Chef 2’ Lets You Get Creative With Physics-Based Cooking

Little Chef 2 is a cozy, wholesome cooking game where you can drop things into a pot and cook up some strange creations.

This game is the sequel to Little Chef, a free-to-play browser-based game that feels very similar. Little Chef 2 feels like the same concept with more focus and polish, creating an even better experience.

The game itself is very simple; there are several kitchens that you can cook in. You start off in a humble student accommodation, looking at the cluttered countertops and dirty dishes in front of you. There is a book to sort of guide what you are focused on, although this physics-based gameplay is pretty open to whatever you want. With a massive pot on the stove, you can add one to three ingredients into it, then heat it up to see what you can make.
Inside the book in Little Chef 2, you can see black outlines of all of the recipes you’ve not discovered yet, along with their title, which is often just enough to figure out exactly what you need to do. Once you have solved that recipe, you can see it below. Some recipes can use more than one ingredient, so they have a question mark. All of the recipes do have a little cute description, sometimes about a memory. Along with food that we could probably eat in real life, there is also a swirly purple section which has wild and wacky recipes that often aren’t very edible at all.

There are also badges that you can earn in Little Chef 2, earning them for tasks like washing the dishes or cutting up some food. It’s simple but quite fun to discover. Everything feels interactable and there are so many things to touch. The subtle puzzling element is increased when you have locked areas that you need to uncover and secrets hiding in the walls as well. So far in its preview build, Little Chef 2 seems like a lot of fun.
Little Chef 2 is currently in development, but in the meantime, you can add it to your Steam Wishlist.

  • ‘Seafrog’ is Full of Wild Critters and Fun Undersea Skateboarding

Seafrog is a colorful skateboarding action game where you are exploring ships and discovering strange monsters as you’re heading home.

It is a 2.5D platformer where you can ride a skateboard around giant boats, grinding on pipes and grabbing onto leaky spouts. Everything about this game screams joy and fun. The skateboarding on the wrench, the frog with headphones, the colorful strange monsters that are within these ships; it’s all a delight to see. You even get to watch little cutscenes that give more context to the monsters and moments within the game.

This game takes you onto some old, abandoned, leaky boats filled with characters who have taken over. You’ll run into all sorts of oddballs like man-eating chickens, frog fairies, and giant octopuses. There are actually a lot of dangers within these places but you have been left with no choice as you and your trusty USB companion have been lost at sea. After plugging in the USB, you’ll be given a map, some spaces for mods, and a game plan to launch yourself from a cannon to get back to some island.
In order to use the cannon, you need to find goal seashells and plug them into the generator. Sometimes, you can even find mods that add more lives or change how your skateboarding works, though you can only hold a limited amount at once.

I found that the way you glide about on your skateboard does take some getting use to, but once you have mastered the controls, everything feels like so much fun to do and you’ll want to keep going back to the levels. You can sort of decide where you want to go next, as these ships have a surprising amount of rooms – some even containing various challenges. Many of these boats also need leaks fixed or keys in order to unlock different areas, giving you more to explore.
Seafrog is available now on Steam.

  • ‘If Letters Had Pants’ Enhances Word Finders With Powerful Jeans

If Letters Had Pants, Would They Wear Them Like This? makes clever use of enhancing pants as you pick out words in the dirt.

This game has a lot going on beneath its simple Word Search appearance. Although you will be searching for words as a start. The goal of the game is to locate groups of letters that form a word and to gather them up by highlighting them with your mouse. This can be done in lines or squares, so you’re free to get a little creative with where you see a word. As you create words, they leave open spaces in the field of letters. You can freely ignore these and connect letters that are separated by these spaces, creating words that are spread father apart. It’s not only a good way to clear more of the board, but you get a greater score if the word is spread over a bigger area.

If you can get a solid score within the time limit, you’ll be given fabulous roguelite rewards in the form of pants. These pants can be slapped on specific letters so that they offer multipliers on your words, are just worth more in general, or have some wild effects on the game. Pants that let you blow up useless letters are pretty handy in a Word Search gone wild, right? Or you could lean more into the outdoorsy feel of the game and plant turnips instead of explosives. They’re worth points as well. Plus your letters will look good in their new colored pants.
Also, If Letters Had Pants, Would They Wear Them Like This? is really about digging for fossils and relics to fill a museum. And the museum can also alter the game. So, like I said, a lot going on. It’s quite the loop, offering something silly, compelling, and creative all at once, and I am finding it increasingly hard to put this game down.
If Letters Had Pants, Would They Wear Them Like This? is available now on itch.io. It is projected to release on Steam in the future, so you can add it to your Steam Wishlist as well.

‘Robo Catcher Zero’ Collects Cute Mechanical Critters

Posted on May 19, 2025May 19, 2025 by Joel Couture

Robo Catcher Zero takes players to a district filled with broken machines and hidden robot buddies for you to locate and awaken.

Finder’s been tasked with wrangling up friendly robots that have tucked themselves into all sorts of places throughout the Amp220Ω district. The reason for why these machines are all so shy isn’t made clear in the current demo of the game, but that’s fine. I don’t need a lot of good reasons to find cute metal buddies besides the fact that they’re adorable. And this tiny slice of demo has quite a few cute robots to scrounge up.

Finding the robots takes more than just finding their hiding spots. The robots don’t seem too keen on being discovered, so you have to play a short minigame when you find one. A small ball-like pod will roll around the screen and you will need to catch it with your mousea few times in order to collect your new pal. It’s not especially challenging most of the time, but it does add a tiny bit of action to gathering the robots. And once you have a few, you can have them follow you around as you explore the rest of the world.
Robo Catcher Zero seems to be focused on creating a relaxed experience in exploring its decayed mechanical landscapes, simply having you putter around and find more robots. There is a story that appears to be taking shape as you find more machines, though, the world humming back to life as your party grows. I’m curious to see where the full version will take this story and why all of these robots started hiding.
Robo Catcher Zero is currently in development, but in the meantime, you can grab a demo or add it to your wishlist on Steam.

A small ball-like pod will roll around the screen and you will need to catch it with your mouse (looking like a catcher’s mitt) a few times in order to collect your new pal. It’s not especially challenging most of the time (other than the fact that some of the pods move around in a hurry), but it does add a tiny bit of action to gathering the robots. About The Author

‘Deck of Haunts’ Plays Cards to Create Terrors in a Creepy Manor

Posted on May 16, 2025May 13, 2025 by Joel Couture

Deck of Haunts sees you expanding the horrifying influence of a haunted house, playing cards to frighten your victims.

Reminding me more than a little bit of Ghost Master, this game gives you the ability to set up a haunted house as you see fit. Built around the mansion’s sickening heart, you will steadily create an array of murderous and confounding rooms meant to keep nighttime explorers from sneaking a peak at your pulsating core. Since they’re all so terribly curious, though, you can attack their sanity or physical health with an array of effects on each turn to stop them from getting there.

That said, you may have a handful of great things that will scare them off – say by creating fires or frightening images – but you only have enough energies to play a handful of cards each turn. Given the amount of people that are snooping about, you will have to carefully plan out your scary tactics in order to maximize how much fear, pain, and madness you can sow among the group. The various explorers also have specific rules in play as well – a priest isn’t as easy to frighten as a bored teenager. Sometimes you need to separate people from their allies to have the greatest effect. So, do you play cards that will break the group apart or do you try to whittle them down with frightening events?
While many roguelike card games require this tactical play, something about taking on the role of a haunted house and using your abilities to frighten people to death just made it far more fun for the horror fan in me. Keeping your heart from being found too many times can be a steep challenge, but something about managing all of the creative ways the developers have put into the game to unnerve your opponents kept a smile on my face even if I was losing.

  • ‘Meadgard’ – Cooperatively Managing a Viking Tavern

Meadgard has you fighting to gather ingredents during the day and running your own Viking inn during the evening, keeping everyone happy.

Chaotic cooking games are a dime a dozen, but this one feels like it’s well worth checking out. This game takes part in two stages, switching between chaotic cooking and gathering the items that you need and using your kitchen tools as weapons!

Meadgard has tasked you and your friends to become innkeepers. You will need to work together to run the best Viking tavern, gathering resources and then running the inn in the evening, hoping to make some gold. During the day, you need to fight various monsters, using your kitchen tool of choice to stay alive. There are often hidden treasure chests and various items that can be found while you’re exploring and clobbering beasts before you move to your inn for the evening.
When it’s opening time at the inn, you will need to plan your menu and then execute it. The menu will depend on what you have done during the day and reflect what you have gathered. There is a sort of skill in creating your menu in Meadgard, as some of the roasting items can be complex.

When it’s time to open, you need to work together to bring Vikings to their table, take their order, then make their food. Sometimes they just need a pint of beer and other times you need to chop ingredients and then cook them to get what they are after. Even things like replacing the keg take time, so having more people working together helps! If you frustrate your customers, they are Vikings, so they might make a mess of the place.
I played a demo of Meadgard at the European Game Showcase where I really enjoyed how fast cooking became when you played together as well as the diversity of play in this game. It’s still a work in progress, but if you like busy cooking games it’s one to keep an eye on.
Meadgard is currently in development, but in the meantime, you can grab a demo or add it to yoru Wishlist on Steam.

‘Just a Die’ Rolls Dice to Battle Board Game Baddies
Just a Die provides you with a unique weapon for every side of your dicey hero, letting you roll to fight against board game enemies. A die has many sides and each can be used in a different way. In this game, you fight your way through randomly generated floors filled with parts of various board games. However, your die does have a trick up its sleeve. Each side can have a different weapon attached to it, allowing you to roll yourself when the ammo is out on that side or when you need to dash so you can make use of the new weapon on the next side. This game may look very colorful and playful, but it does pack a challenge. The rooms themselves are full of different board game pieces, all with their own weapons who are ready to attack you. To prepare for the onslaught, you are able to use different weapons and attach them to specific sides. These weapons can combo together, creating strong sides of your die, but you will still need to roll to that side so that you can use it. There are a lot of different combinations that can be created with your die to better match your playstyle. You aren’t going to likely be able to make all of the sides the same (and why would you?), so there are a lot of differences in the sides that you might end up landing on. Also, you can often get new passive effect cards to add at the end of your round to alter how your weapons work. There are some stats at the bottom of each weapon slot to better help you understand how you are changing these with cards, and cards can be swapped about whenever you want, which is good. Just a Die feels very fast and frantic, but fun! I got to play a short demo at the European Game Showcase where the developer spoke all about their inspirations and guided me through changing my die. Just a Die is currently in development, but in the meantime, you can add it to your Steam Wishlist. About The Author

‘CASSETTE BOY’ Changes Your Reality Based on Perspective
CASSETTE BOY explores the idea that things don’t exist when you aren’t looking at them, turning this concept into a puzzling game. In this Game Boy inspired puzzle RPG, you are taken on a very mysterious quest designed around the idea that you are not able to see some things due to your perspective. If something you are looking at becomes hidden behind something else, sometimes it just stops existing altogether. Sometimes this can be true, but other times, like with yourself, you might just need to look at things from a different perspective. After traveling around your town and following a strange orb-thing that has interesting questions, you will find that not everything is how it seems. Even the game itself goes from a 2D game to a 3D game, completely changing the perspective once you get used to the 2D version that you have been exploring and discovering. CASSETTE BOY is also a very humorous game that makes you really think about where you are going and how exactly you are looking at. Make the wrong move and you can sometimes make something disappear. You actually take a giant sword, making you somewhat of a hero, and you now need to travel around trying to figure out what to really do next. The world feels good to explore, but at the same time, it’s clear where you need to go next as well. I got the chance to play a bit of the game during New Game Plus, where I was surprised when the world shifted and captivated by the strange mysterious questions being proposed to me. It felt like a new kind of puzzle game that was wrapped in surprises, with a lot to discover and play through. The world felt very familiar at first to Game Boy titles, but the shift in perspective added a new twist. CASSETTE BOY is currently in development, but in the meantime, you can grab a demo and add it to your wishlist on Steam. About The Author

‘Stealth Crossword’ Helps Sneaky Letters Solve Word Puzzles
Stealth Crossword needs you to help guide covert letter operatives into the correct puzzle positions to prevent international incidents. While I’m not especially into crossword puzzles, something about adding a touch of espionage makes the prospect of figuring out words a lot more interesting. In this game, you have access to all of the letters you may need to solve a puzzle. All you need to do is type a key and that corresponding letter will pop up in the various metallic underground bases you’ll be sneaking your way through. Once your letter appears, you’ll have to dodge the various letter guards (you can see their cone of vision flitting back and forth) to make your way to the right spot in each crossword puzzle. Solve all of them to move on to the next step in your mission. The game feels pretty straightforward at first. I managed to figure out the first stage without looking at most of the clues (which were conveniently laid out right on-screen). However, things get more complicated as you progress through each area, requiring you find computers with hidden information or locate other sources of intel that will help you figure out the right word to solve each puzzle. As you do so, an overarching plot starts to take shape over the course of the game as well. It’s not especially serious given the nature of the game, adding more fun to this already silly concept. Stealth Crossword is a delightfully clever take on crosswords that injects a little bit of tension and complexity to the mix. Having to sneak about without getting caught and find information that will help you figure out the clues makes the game a bit more playfully demanding than most crosswords, creating something fun and funny in the process. Stealth Crossword is available now (for free) on itch.io. About The Author
