What just happened? The 28th annual DICE awards have just taken place, and it was another memorable awards ceremony for Astro Bot. It took home the highest number of wins on the night, five, including the coveted Game of the Year, which it also won at December's Game Awards. Developed by Team Asobi, the platformer has been a revelation for publisher Sony. It has received numerous nominations across numerous gaming awards shows and won many, including several Game of the Year categories.At the Aria Resort & Casino, where Sony revealed its game had sold 1.5 million units, Astro Bot beat Balatro, Black Myth: Wukong, Helldivers 2, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle to take home Game of the Year. Apart from the winner, I've played all the games in this category and have to say that Wukong would have been my pick. Black Myth's only win at the show came in the Outstanding Achievement in Art Direction category.Astro Bot won more categories than any other game at the awards. In addition to GOTY, it won Outstanding Achievement in Animation, Outstanding Technical Achievement, Family Game of the Year, and Outstanding Achievement in Game Design.In terms of total number of wins, Helldivers 2 was a close second with four: Outstanding Achievement in Original Music Composition, Outstanding Achievement in Audio Design, Action Game of the Year, and Online Game of the Year.Elsewhere, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle won the Outstanding Achievement in Character award for Dr. Jones himself. Bethesda Softworks' game also won the Outstanding Achievement in Story category and Adventure Game of the Year. // Related StoriesCard game Balatro also won three categories.
