The cost of HOKs planned borough jail for Manhattan has been revealed as being worth just under $3.8 billion per a report on the firms finalized contract with the NYC Department of Design and Construction. The project is tendered to a seven-year and three-month construction timeline at the site of the former Manhattan Detention Complex (aka "The Tombs") that was recently demolished. 93-year-old Rikers Island, the notorious complex that it partially replaces with 1,040 inmate beds, is still slated to close in 2027.
