The Best Minecraft Movie Easter Eggs Hiding In The New TrailerThe impression that you get the first time you log into Minecraft is of a simple, straightforward world. Experienced players know that their Minecraft world, already different from everyone else's Minecraft world, is anything but simple. That means that when making A Minecraft Movie, the filmmakers have no shortage of references to drop in for all the Minecraft gamers in the know to catch, point at, and maybe even squeal over in delight. Case in point: The new trailer. Here are some of the most notable Easter eggs we spotted in the latest trailer, which reveals the movie's villain. For all the little things in the trailer that you don't recognize, Mojang just released a free movie-themed add-on for Minecraft. A Minecraft Movie releases in theaters on April 4, 2025. Makin' pandas, makin' baby pandasYou can breed lots of different animals in Minecraft by giving them the right food. For pandas, that food is bamboo. The trailer starts with two adult pandas sitting and holding bamboo, and suddenly a little baby panda pops out of nowhere. Soft landingsExperienced Minecraft fans--especially those who don't wear Elytra all the time (more on that later)--know to keep a bucket of water in their inventory. Water breaks falls in both real life and Minecraft, but in Minecraft water also stays where you put it. Just dump a bucket of water directly below you, and you can fall from any height--just like Steve (Jack Black). When they land, there's also a set of Elytra wings on the ground. Diamond is unbreakable After Steve places a bunch of gravity-defying blocks in the air, we cut to Natalie (Emma Myers) crafting a diamond sword. In a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment, you can spot her using the correct recipe on a Minecraft Crafting Table: two diamonds and one stick. Furnaces, used for smelting ingots out of ore, burn behind her. Now you're thinking with portalsSteve and his wolf, Dennis, discover a ruined portal. These are scattered throughout the Minecraft overworld. With a few obsidian blocks, you can complete the portal and then, using flint and steel, activate the portal to enter the Nether. Welcome to the NetherThe Nether is full of our favorite creatures like hoglins and ghasts. This isn't specifically a Minecraft game Easter egg, but when one of the little guys shows the picture he's been working on to the boss, the house is made out of blocks. As Steve describes the incoming Nether invasion, he says that everything will "wither and die." Could that mean they'll have to fight a Wither--one of the most dangerous monsters in the game--at some point? Can you fly, Henry?Steve slaps a shimmering sheet of something onto the backs of Henry (Sebastian Hansen) and Garrett (Jason Momoa). That's the Elytra wing suit, a piece of endgame equipment you can find that allows you to glide down to a safe landing. If you have fireworks on you, you can even fly. Boom goes the dynamiteDawn (Danielle Brooks) tells a group of skeletons, "I got somethin' for ya!" Then she uses a lever, connected via redstone to a block of hidden dynamite, to blow them to smithereens. Perfect. How did he live through that?! The one thing Minecraft fans might raise their eyebrows at in the trailer is the moment when Garrett punches a Creeper, which then blows up and sends him flying. Somehow, some way, he doesn't die. He's not even wearing any armor! How did he live through that?! Riding the railsWhen we see the characters riding a rail, they're accurately split into pairs in each of the carts. The rail is populated with powered rails that push minecarts along, and when they exit the tunnel into daylight, we see a bridge with more powered rails, each connected to a redstone torch to power it. Making friendsNatalie creates Iron Golems just like you would in the game: four iron blocks and a carved pumpkin. These beefy boys would be a great defense against a nether invasion. Anything can be a mount if you believe in yourself In the quick shots toward the end of the trailer, we see a skeleton with a bow riding a spider, followed by a little zombie riding a chicken. The latter is a true menace, as Garrett finds out. The mysterious mansion in the woods The Woodland Mansion is one of the biggest generated structures you can find in Minecraft, and they're filled with all kinds of rooms. One of those is a battle arena. The mansions are empty in the game, so fans have speculated what the battle arena might be for. Maybe it's chicken jockey fights! Nitwits gonna nitwit The villager at the end of the trailer is a nitwit. Most villagers, if placed near a job block, will take on the profession matching that job block. But some villagers just aren't fit to work--the nitwits. They wake up late and go to bed late, meaning that if any villager was going to get run over by Jennifer Coolidge, it'd be a nitwit. You can tell by his green clothes and the fact that he was in the middle of the street in the first place.
