Nonprofits The Pew Charitable Trusts andCenter for Building in North America havereleased a report in support of single-stair apartment building designs made using data to provide a snapshot of their building safety performance and ability to reduce construction costs in the hopes of addressing housing shortfalls as fewer and fewer small and medium-size designs are being built across the country.The report finds that single-stair buildings can help architects achieve a better variety of configurations, contort to irregular-shaped lots, improve ventilation, and increase the amount of natural light that flows inside. This applies to buildings of between three to six stories.
