Project Stress Index sees 9.7% drop in February as public-private gap grows wider

Its time for a check-in on the latest Project Stress Index (PSI) composites from the month of February with new data from ConstructionConnect.The number of projects that have been paused, abandoned, or delayed fell by 9.7% from the previous month, according to their survey. Michael Guckes, the chief economist at ConstructConnect, says this improvement was mainly driven by the positive performance of infrastructure and civil architecture builds.Private projects were shown to have faired mostly the opposite, with abandonments and on-hold activity both rising sharply. The PSI remains 12.4% above 2021 levels.
