The design framework for the forthcoming Austin Light Rail transportation system in the Texas state capital has been unveiled by the Austin Transit Partnership (ATP) in collaboration with UNStudio, Gehl, and HKS.The 15-station Phase 1 plan includes a new bridge over Lady Bird Lake and expanded green infrastructure. The ATP will say it will 'prioritize intuitive, multimodal connectivity" as an "expression" of the citys unique identity, with each station tailored to its surrounding neighborhood and a full integration of pedestrian, cycling, and transit networks into its design.Image: WAX Architectural Visualizations The project, therefore, "goes beyond infrastructure," in the words of the ATP and Amsterdam-based firm. The network will cover about 10 miles once it begins operation.Image: WAX Architectural Visualizatio...
