Inspired by Arizonas striking landforms of canyons and mesas, COLWELL SHELOR LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE used light, shadow, and native plants to create a space that reflects the regions iconic imagery at the University of Arizona Environment + Natural Resources II.This high-performance landscape helps mitigate climate change, supports urban wildlife and pollinators, cleanses air and water, and harvests water for reuse. Vertical gardens and an interior canyon courtyard create a cooler microclimate, expanding opportunities for students to gather and learn outdoors, even in a desert climate. Areas to support mental restoration are located near the rain garden, offering a serene retreat from the main walkway.Learn more: https://bit.ly/3XoUM4LImage Credit: ASLA 2023 Professional General Design Honor Award.
