A survey carried out by students at the Harvard Graduate School of Design has found that visa status has a significant impact on financial security, workplace choice, and tenure for graduates with architecture degrees in the U.S. workforce.Launched by students Hafsa Abdi, Connor Gravelle, Gillian Hause, and Zamen Lin as part of the schools Frameworks of Practice course, the survey sought to identify the impact of U.S. visa status on the landscape of architectural labor, and to understand the experiences of international architecture graduates including their working life and future plans.Among the questions the students sought to answer when launching the survey were 'How does immigration status affect career choices for architecture graduates?' and 'Do visa considerations change what offices you pursue work at, and how does your visa status intersect with long-term life planning?'According to the survey, a majority of respondents described their current status as insecure...
