According to a report in The New Republic, the federal government has, under the direction of the White House and President Trump, begun a process to bring criminal charges against "environmental" groups such as Habitat for Humanity for Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) grants they received from the Biden administration.The report cites a Citibank court filing thatincludes an FBI claim of 'conspiracy to defraud the United States' on the part the nonprofit. The EPA is currently slashing staff and shedding regional offices while also gutting regulations under its new Administrator, Lee Zeldin. The grants in question were derived from theGreenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, which received $27 billion as part of the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act. At the time, the Act had passed the Senate by a vote of 51-50.
