Ready to blast some bugs? Neill Blomkamp (District 9, Gran Turismo) is set to write and direct a feature adaptation of the Robert A. Heinlein sci-fi novel Starship Troopers for Columbia Pictures, according to The Hollywood Reporter.The classic story follows an interstellar war between Earth and an infestation of bug-like aliens and digs into military life and the concept of earning voting rights through the acts of service. Most known for its campy 1997 feature adaptation from Paul Verhoeven (Robocop, Total Recall), the story has also been accused of espousing fascist ideology.
