This week,Harvard Universitys President Alan M. Garber announced that Harvard College would be free to undergraduate students whose families earn less than $100,000 beginning in the 2025-26 academic year (this includes tuition, food, housing, health insurance, and travel costs, according to the university). Additionally, students from families earning less than $200,000 will be tuition-free.This does not affect the Graduate School of Design or any of Harvards other graduate and professional schools. Roughly 60% of Harvards undergraduate learners come from public high schools. The median household income for American families in 2024 was just over $80,000.
