Few sci-fi characters are as legendary as Captain James T. Kirk, played by William Shatner, who led the USS Enterprise through Star Trek: The Original Seriesand beyond. He was the ultimate space hero: charismatic, fearless, and willing to bend the rules to get the job done. Yet, his final moments in the spinoff movie Star Trek: Generations left many fans wanting more. In the film, Kirk sacrifices himself to help Patrick Stewarts Jean-Luc Picard stop Dr. Tolian Soran (Malcolm McDowell) on Veridian III, where he was then buried in an unmarked grave. For a character as iconic as Kirk, it was an unsatisfying send-off.
