SOM's Governors Island climate campus plans become clearer with new update

SOM has updated its design for the forthcoming New York Climate Exchangeon Governors Island in New York City. The groundbreaking STEM education/workforce development campus was originally announced in April of 2023 following the culmination of a two-year-long competitive bids process. The updated design is now 8 feet above sea level to protect its allotment of stakeholdersincluding IBM, Georgia Tech, and Oxford Universityfrom the effects of rising sea levels.SOM expects to complete the project in 2028.
