Spending on nonresidential construction increased to a new record high level in February, according to the latest Associated Builders and Contractors analysis of data published by the U.S. Census Bureau. The index indicated a slight (0.3%) jump nationwide to a new seasonally adjusted rate of $1.255 trillion.Spending was up on a monthly basis in 9 of the 16 nonresidential subcategories. Private nonresidential spending increased 0.4%, while public nonresidential construction spending was up 0.2% in February.
