Lorcan O'Herlihy's Trancas House 2.0 emerges as an example of fire-resilient design
As the rebuilding and recovery effort ramps up in Los Angeles following twin fires in Altadena and the Pacific Palisades, a recent project from Lorcan OHerlihy Architects(LOHA) has garnered attention as an example of better fire-resistant design solutions and a showcase of architectures ability to meet the threats posed by extreme weather events in an urban setting.Photo: Paul Vu, courtesy of Lorcan O'Herlihy Architects [LOHA]The 4,800-square-foot project is referred to as Trancas House 2.0. The Malibu home was originally designed for OHerlihys parents in 1985, and later suffered a complete loss in the 2018 Woolsey Fire.
