CBC asks: What's behind Canada's housing delivery crisis?
The CBC recently unpacked the effect an absence of smart immigration policies and skilled laborers has had on the Canadian building economy. Canada’s points-based admission system is perhaps the biggest culprit for the dearth of construction workers that’s currently holding up housing delivery to the tune of 30,000-40,000 homes per year. The country's problems reflect that of America's housing crisis, which has only gotten worse with the threat of new tariffs while the industry attempts to recoup about 4.5 million homes. Housing policy, as a result, is fast becoming a top-line political issue in both countries.
