Patch 8 in Baldur's Gate 3 has finally arrived, and it has introduced 12 brand-new subclasses to the RPG. These subclasses offer a fresh way to play every single main class in BG3, each of them with new abilities, spells, dialogue, and animations. This gives you a chance to completely change up combat and gameplay itself, even if you've been playing the game since its launch in 2023.However, the subclasses in BG3 aren't available right from the start of the game. You need to unlock them by progressing one or more main classes to a certain level, depending on which subclass(es) you'd like to play. Path of the Giant BarbarianUnlock requirement: Barbarian level 3First up is the Path of the Giant Barbarian, which is unlocked once you reach level 3 with the Barbarian class in BG3. The class "draws strength from the same primal forces as them," giving your character extra strength in all facets of the game.Path of the Giant Barbarian initially comes with the Vaprak's Greed subclass feature, increasing carrying capacity by a quarter and the Giant's Rage class action. At level 5, you unlock the Boot of the Giants class action. Boot of the Giants lets you try to kick your target farther away from you, and the success rate depends on your Athletics stat. Level 6 unlocks the Elemental Cleaver class action, which works well with Giant's Rage, and level 10 unlocks the Mighty Impel class action, allowing you to throw opponents in addition to kicking them. College of Glamour BardUnlock requirement: Bard level 3The College of Glamour Bard is unlocked at level 3 in the Bard class, and it emphasizes unleashing the magic that you learned from fey creatures.The subclass has two main class actions, Mantle of Inspiration and Mantle of Majesty: Command. Mantle of Inspiration is unlocked at level 3, and it imbues two of your allies with vigor to grant them five temporary HP points while Mantle of Majesty: Command is unlocked at level 10 and commands a creature to perform a variety of actions. Level 6 also improves Mantle of Inspiration to heal allies more, while level 10 improves Mantle of Majesty: Command to command more targets at once. Death Domain ClericUnlock requirement: Cleric level 1The Death Domain Cleric is one of the more involved subclasses that arrived with Patch 8 in BG3.
